Well, our weather up here was definitely not boring…if you wanted variation we had it…every ten minutes ago it would change. Literally. We had some sun, some cloud, nasty winds, not so nasty breezes, no wind at all, cold, warm, rain, snow, sleet…even hail. Oh…and a thunderin’boomer showed up as well to add a bit of spice to the mix…
And, I am not a cherry red glowstick so I be fine for the nonce…
Some people think they’re special or it won’t happen to them or why bother, they can just look around or someone will give them what they need or emergency services will be right on their doorstep. Whatever the reason it all boils down to not taking the time to be prepared.
It is a cold and cloudy 40 degrees. Going up to 47 today with some sunshine.
Today is an easy day. I have an errand to run and a few chores to do. Then, I can relax and read the latest copy of CTT mag which just arrived. Not much else new.
Good morning. It’s 63° with 100% humidity and dense fog. It’ll be mostly cloudy with a chance of rain. The high will be 82°.
Sore and stiff this morning. Fog is heavy enough that we’re under a dense fog advisory until 9am. My father wants me to watch over my mother this morning and I have to tell you I’m not looking forward to it. He says there’s not much moving or walking around associated with it. Horse feathers!! I didn’t get much sleep last night plus I had a sugar crash on top of that. When it rains it pours! I also have to get the second half of my grocery shopping done. That might have to wait a day or two. I don’t expect to get any layout work done today. In fact the way things are going so far I don’t expect to get ANY layout related work done this weekend period.
I can but hope that old Mr Murphy is through with me for a while. They say the bad things happen in three’s. Van battery went bad after only two months, water heater busted, electric service pole busted and fell down. That seems like three.
Sunny today with an ever popular chance of rain be falling on our’n heads…high around 46F.
Getting some grocery shopping done today as well as getting some train time thrown into the mix as well. As well as some Spring time as he has decided to begin headbunting me here…
Morning. [up since 5:30 as Wifey went to a Christmas shopping special, yes, before Thanksgiving [banghead]] Sunny and cooool. Warming as day progresses. Then clouds tomorrow and possible rain for election day. Already voted. Mayor stuff until Friday so can’t hunt the start of the rut. [banghead]
Fall Festival today with PD Citizens Appreciation Day [free hotdogs for all]. [8D]
Buckeye has news. ??? Better not b e coming back to Rville. Have new Police Chief and this one will get him. [:-^]
I will be off to the train show soon. We will be running trains on 3 large loops from noon to 5. It’s the same modules Charlie used in his driveway back in June but with the scenery added. I have nothing on my shopping list but I’m not one to pass on a good deal either.
Brutus you got yourself a very nice birthday present. enjoy…S.J.
EDIT: Don’t forget to get up at 2 am and set your clocks back 1 hour.
Mornin’ boys. Mornin’ English. Cloudy & 45 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Gotta straighten out the yard today, then Grandson’s 1st birthday party. He’s really into Thomas (wonder how that happened…).
krapug - First off, glad you are allright and able to report in. Hope the power company gets the heat back on for ya. My parents in WV are on the mountain top with a couple feet of snow and no juice as well.
88 - [D)] *Duh…*2 generators. 1 for the house, 1 for the layout.
anjdevil - Be careful my friend. I fear what may happen when the juice comes back on…
Just remember folks, all will be well because tape is being cut through[#dots]
Chief - What? No doughnuts? [4:-)] Or might that create a visual faux-pas?
Our fire prevention bureau is pretty good. Our populace knows that if its down, its probably hot…I just wish our young guys were as easily trained [sigh]. We did have quite a few down lines the last few days.
Hope your parents are ok in West Virginny…
Had a major fire last night, or so we thought. We got toned out for a 2nd alarm, tanker task force, mutual aid covers…turned out to be a 21’X21’ shed…[banghead] with no life hazard. No, it wasn’t our call…
Off to blood drive after work…
[angel] for those in need…
PS I have an alternator via the bay…now, I just have to install it. So, the hybrids time is short. [(-D]
Wife and I ran trains last night and something is up on the layout. Had 4 pile ups all at the switches, both Lionel 42" 027 right hand ones, almost like they were flipping by themselves. I tried several different trains and it did not seem to change it. So I ran into the back of the train on the back loop (twice) and off the track on the south switch. (twice) Both very hard places to reach. [banghead]
Prayers for all of those out there on the east coast. [angel]
I hope John is holding up okay.
Also my K-Line Kid flying the airplane quit. I hope it is a wiring thing and not the unit. If it is the unit Guess I will be giving Bob a PM to see if he can look at it. [banghead]
Bit of a Pea Souper this morning, the Better-Half out the door with the other hens for some garage sale meandering. Me just sit and relax, listening to my hillbilly music a bit before starting today’s Honey-do’s. She’s hosting their Bunco group on monday so that means turning the house inside out n upside down before I spend Sunday and monday cooking.
Will be interesting to see the fallout after the union/non-union lineman flap in N.J. Seems kind of odd that when so many are w/o power it wouldn’t make any difference when folks come quite a distance to help out.
No museum yesterday, spent most of the day runnin’ round the county getting some things done.
Oh well, procrastinated long enuff. Time to get busy. [sigh]
It seems that some union officials can’t see past the rule book. It doesn’t matter how far you came or how good you are, if you ain’t union you ain’t working. QED! Then when the work takes half of eternity they’re the first to cry about how nobody would come and help.
Well the nurse showed up today so I don’t have to watch over my mother. I instead went to town and my grocery shopping done. Here’s a photo I took the last time I was at my parents home. This is in a second story loft in the great room. The monkey’s name is King George and he’s on his throne. No offense to our friends in the UK.
I agree on the lineman. Using the Union to stop out of town lineman from coming in makes no sense at all. These Unions only care about themselves, not the people they are supposed to serve.
**DougDG…**you had a much safer day than I did. Your wife went out and mine stayed home, conscripted me to help her hang curtains. Apparently she does not subscribe to my approach of measuring (twice) and then eyeballing. So I shut up and did it her way. [:-^]
Drilled a lot of unnecessary holes. Hung the hardware, drapes and valences twice. [banghead] [banghead]
