Been a great weekend so far. Yesterday we had opening season for T-Ball, which consists of a parade escort from the Wissahickon Police & Fire Dept. from the Ambler Train Station, all the way up to Pickering Field where all T-ball, Little League, Softball, and AA Ball is played from now until the first weekend of June. My boy did great. Three at bats with two of them being line drives right past the pitchers mound. He played first, and third base. What a difference a year makes. Then after the game went to friends house. A good time had by all.
Today low key. Mass, chores, and who knows. Four days till York. Can’t wait. Have a good day everyone.
Bright sun but cool on the North Bluff. They say mid 70s by afternoon so it better get with it from here. That will be great I have plenty to do in the yard. The grass is turning green and all kinds of stuff is popping up in the woods. [:)]
A good true ALL AMERICAN race last night with a lot of left hand turns. Bush deserved the win. That Girl managed to survive drove from 42nd to 28th and finished in front of JR. in 29th. So they had to interview her after the race. I don’t recall any other 28th place driver getting an interview, EVER!!! [(-D] Maybe they will start interviewing Back Row Joe Nemechek next. [:-^]
I think those overrated INDY cars will be looking for some action next month if spring ever gets here. Darn shame that only eight out of 27 drivers are Americans. No wonder I only watch one of their races a year and fall asleep when I do… [zzz] [+o(] 25 or 30 years ago it was a different story. [:S]
Prayers for all in need and have a great Sunday. [angel]
I was skimming over your post when I did a double take on Pickering Field. We have a community here called Pickering with an elementary and high school bearing the same name and naturally the sports field there is called Pickering Field. The football and basketball teams are called the Pickering Red Devils. Last time I checked they’re class 2A.
Here its 58 and getting up to 62. Went TROUT FISHIN yesterday with BRO and caught and released 5 brownies. The front that went through on Friday has the fish not hitting as they should.
YORK WEEK weather,
BANKs, [angel] for BUDDY. I know you’ll meet up with him again.
Laz those York 70s look good to me. We had a good time at last nights club meeting but my lower back is sore from standing so I expect a lot of pain at the end of each York day. But I’m a-goin. The guys here are hyped and ready for next week. We plan to stop at Horseshoe Curve on Tuesday so if some of you that have been there recently want to advise it will be welcome. I was there years ago just after they tore up the fourth track and in those days you just parked, climbed the stairs and watched trains. Yes I know that has changed. I still don’t know what that small stone structure up on the curve was used for. Have a great Sunday…S.J.
Yesterday was early to rise [3:50 AM] and late to bed [11:30 PM]. Went to the farm turkey hunting. REB turkeys. Out smarted us. Yank turkeys are easy to kill. [:-^] They watched us put out decoys and then go hide way before light. When it came to fly down from their roost, they flew straight away and into my other woods. We tried various places calling all day. Nothing. Then we went to the roosting area early, waited until dark and not turkeys. They did not come back to the roosting area they used that night before. [banghead]
Banks, heart felt sorrow for your loss of Buddy. They are family members. [:(]
Late [bday] to Mrs. Murphy.
Going to get fitted for Tux for oldest Daughter’s wedding. She has really PO’d me off over this wedding. Scheduled it for opening day of deer season. Can’t even hunt that AM. She is having it at a wedding place out of town so have to stay at this place as rehearsal dinner there too. [:(!] [banghead]
Sunny and mid 70’s. Pollen is horrible here. Down east at the farm, gone. Leaves on the trees. Lake house will be two weeks behind Roseyville.
To post photos here they first have to be hosted on another site. Follow the instructions in the first post of this thread and you should be up and going.
I can’t seem to find any instructions on posting pics. I set up an account with Photobucket. I tried to post the pics per url and it tells me it is invalid. I tried other methods and they show but once I enter the post they are gone.
Got it figured out. Thanks for the help Jeffrey-Wimberly![:D]
Cool, cloud cover, 69-63-67 next 3 days 82 on Thur.
Channel 5.3 is having Annette Funcello movies on this afternoon. I’m pretty sure this is a local channel. I’ll have it on but won’t sit and watch. As I remember they were stupid movies but a pretty young girl.
Banks very sorry about Buddy, I think I like dogs as much as people.
Here are some pics of the man-cave where the train layout will go. In the first pics you can see the empty area. In the next few pics you can see my guesstimated layout. I have learned the train does not like the 031 curves at the end away from the bar, I may need to take them out and run straights or go to a larger radius curve. On another note. I’d like to take out the 027 long straights and put in 0.
York is just days away. I’m all set to go! Looking forward to seeing the gang!
Got the flowers done yesterday. Having our very long back yard fence (cedar 245 feet) re-stained. The guy pressure washed the inside Firday. He will wash the outside Mon. I have been hitting it with a wire brush to get the remains of the last stain off. By accident the previous stain was actually a stain/sealer and it dried to a dark glaze vs the color we wanted. The good news is after 4 years the pressure washer knocked 97% of it off. I am getting the last 3 %, but only on the inside where we see it. The part facing the alley we do not care.
Banks - so sorry about Buddy. Our mutt is over 12 years now. She is doing ok so far but at this age things can turn fast.
It will be another nice warm day here and we will probably grill out tonight.
If the weather is close to this at York it’s going to shorts all the way!
Did a few hours outside today. More leaves, again, then cleaning the fish pond, leaves, algae etc…Had a nice visit from HudsonJohn last night as we ran trains and he also delivered to me my latest box that was delivered to his house. How it got there I’ll never know [*-)]. It’s an early 1920’s steam locomotive and tender. One of the first produced by American Flyer to use electricity.
ROY: Nothing is ever easy. that’s a lot of fence, too. Nice you were able to have most of it pressure washed off.
RAY, it isn’t that WARM here!!!
RJ, nice space you have there. as you have found out, long trains and sharp curves don’t get along well. At least you tested your plan on the floor and don’t have to tear up bench work.
gonna be doing some grilling tonight.
I just woke up from a nap. and I honestly think some times naping makes you feel worse than just plowing through and going to bed earlier
Nice day in SE Indiana. Took it easy. Got some stuff down from the barn loft to hopefully sell to a second hand dealer. If I get some money, it will be worth it to get it out of the house. Kev, at least Indy car drivers know how to turn left and right, but their best races are on the ovals. Alonso won the F-1 race this weekend. I hope everyone has a good day.
Well I had dinner with my father today. Chili dogs with pepper-jack cheese and Vidalia onion. I got the layout cleaned up a bit more and three of the FP7’s are now in gray and black paint. The units were primer gray, BN and UP. There’s two to go, a PRR and a UP. The Rock Island unit is staying as it is.
