Morning all. Didn’t make it to the Pot yesterday. Busy doing stuff outside. Even put a deer feeder in the Main Street Park. Should attract deer to the spot which walkers get to see them.
Spending a lot of time with Time Warner Cable. Got back from lake house to find Sportsman Channel had no volume after an upgrade. Well, it has taken lots of visits by a tech to convince TWC that the problem is not Cisco boxes but something in my node. Could have installed a different brand of whole house DVR box and fixed my problem but not theirs. Refused to allow that as Wifey looses all of her Christmas shows DVR’d. Now they are really scratching their heads. No sound but meter shows sound coming through. Install new Cisco box, no sound. I’m being patient. Have new Samsung boxes in bedroom and Train Box. Watch it there and also the DVR’d Sportsman Channel shows have sound. Yes, the only channel with no sound.
I’m off to the lake house for a few days. Back Friday night after a Property Owners Board meeting.
Saturday, off to the farms to scout for turkeys as season comes in the following Sat.
NEWS FLASH. Jsut got a call. TV 11 wants to interview me on gun control as our STUPID Mayor of Morrisville is having a round table discussion on gun control today. They want “the other side of the story.”
Nice story on your father. I can hardly beleve mine has been gone for 12 years.
I put two pair of bad rusty and broken Lionel 022 switches and one 042 switch on the bay last night for buy it now of $35.00 and they are sold. Must of been too cheap. [(-D]
So I got to pack them up and send them off to the guy today. Other than that not much going on.
Oh BTW I got the last of the bills from the trip to the hospital. WOW that ride in the big red box was almost 2K $400 for me to pay. It don’t pay to get sick. [:S] Where does the Tax money I send to the ambulance department go??? [^o)]
It was fun to see that little Marx engine run the loop. I kept thinking not many of then ever got a run like that. Today will be an in-between one with some grocery shopping tomorrow or Friday. . . S.J.
IIABSDISEI with temps in the 40s. Will be watching Arrow tonight. Work is quiet today, which is good. TBIL and I can drive again. I hope everyone has a good day.
JACK and RAY - Ever since last years political season started (over a year) we have let the recorder answer all calls including the business calls. Our recorded message refers them to our web sites to send an email as the fastest way to have their questions answered.
We get lots of hang-up with out messages. Most likely those are telemarketers. For our family, we use a signal.
Cool and some rain this morning. High today of 49. 70’s by weekend. This weekend is Mom’s weekend at sons university so we will be trekking to OK Friday evening. May not be able to post until Mon.
LAZ - we actually make those stories about hail and tornados up to keep people with weak fortitude from moving here. We call baseball size hail “batting practice”.
Woke up to 28 degrees. it is up to to 42 now. Not going to get much warmer the rest of the week here.
Jack: I agree about Global Warming.
RT: Good move on planting before the transformer work. I would have done the same.
Mike: Hang in there.
Kev: Great news on the 1615! Enjoy it.
SJ: Sounds like a great visit. I am going to try the new batch of Lemon Ice Cream later.
Bob: Sounds like a nice tribute to your Dad. with the Corvair no less. My Dad’s first new car was a 1951 Ford Crown Victoria. He bought that when he came home from Korea. Before that he had a 1937 Pontiac and a 1939 Ford.
DougDG: Thanks for sharing the video. I will show it to my son later. He in into Marx. I am going to try to get out to the west Coast and check out the Museum. It looks great.
Chief: Good luck with the interview on Gun Control.
I wonder where Traindood is? I miss his comments on the Yankees! I hope to see him at York!
My view on gun control? Idiotic! All taking guns away from the law abiding folks does is leave the criminals with the guns. Only in a tightly controlled police state can it be done and that the US ain’t.
Good morning. It’s 46° with 100% humidity. Showers likely. The high will be 65°.
The word for today is rain. We’re getting lots of it. I guess I’m caught up on my sleep now. I hadn’t had much lately so it was no surprise that I was very tired yesterday afternoon. I laid down for a short nap and woke up about 3am. It was raining to beat the band. Since the computer was still on I had a look around online, made a posting or two then shut it down and went back to bed. Woke up again at 9am.
Today I plan to do some grocery shopping. The food stamp card is reloaded so I can get some of the stuff I need. It’s not much, just $49 but that’s something at least. I’m also going to see if I can find a PS2 to USB adapter so I can use my old keyboard. I’m getting really aggravated with this new one and I’m about to snap it in two! The keys are too low and really sensitive and they’re too small for my big fingers. I’ll keep it around as a spare.
I just wanted to let ya’ll know how much I love this forum. I get to hear about other people in the hobby, find out about weather all around, get questions answered, and even get to see super cool videos.[:D]
Besides Ebay or Craigs list is there other places to buy good used stuff? On the cheap of course - I’m on a budget unless my trains start making boat loads of money? It’s funny though. All the stuff I have paid for and the best I have received is the info on here. Which was free. … priceless
Thanks again to all those that have helped me along. Hopefully I can have some foundation and a track system set up and running soon. Anybody in the cold north wanna help??? anyone???
Just a quick splash and go from crystal clear but cold Taxachusetts,
The Canadian geese here just won’t quit. 9 dispatched back into the pond by Maximus three times today already. Spent some time cleaning up the mess they left in the time they had.[banghead]
The past couple of nights the wife and I watched all of the internet video on Secretariat. A horse never to be surpassed. Miracle: RI52 and the wife watching the same thing, also an event never to be surpassed. [tup]
[#welcome] charliebrown!!!
**HudsonJohn…**please keep the good news on your Mom coming. [tup][angel]
**Bob…**ya got me to thinking about my Dad who has been gone 15 years. I resurrected my Dad’s Navy flight jacket last month and “invested” $ in it to bring it back to life. Between a seamstress and the leather expert, it looks like new, and I have begun wearing it again. Also last month, poured $ into r&r-ing my Dad’s old watch and am wearing that too. I don’t mean to preach to the younger amongst us, but NOW is the time to cherish those whom we love. Carpe diem. [tup]
**Jeffrey…**am glad to hear you are back up and running with your new PC. Lots of horsepower in this one!!! Rich’s MOPAR comes to mind! Very amused by your aggravation with the new keyboard too. [tup][(-D]
Chief, Tell them how it is on GUN CONTROL. i think they may have sneaked in some TV control on you and cut off the Sportsman’s Channel so you can’t hear the NRA shows! [:(]
Best thing for sorting out calls is caller ID, if we don’t know the name or number we don’t answer it. Most of our friends call on our cell phones. Also with Comcast the # flashes up on the TV screen when you get a call.
Been nice and sunny here the past few days, but also cool and windy, right now it’s 45 with 18 mph wind making it feel like 37.
I’m at the toy train museum again cataloging photos, a never ending job.
Joe, I read the article about it and I’m afraid I have been a victim of this scam. It sounded like exactly what happened to me. However the callers did not try to sell me anything or ask for payment for the service etc. The bad thing is that they may have access to all the data on my computer now if this is true. I called my credit card company and told them what had happened but so far nothing has shown up on that at least. I don’t think I have any financial data on my computer but they might be able to use your name in some other way I suppose. Need to find out more about this and report this to the proper authorities.
John…I set up a separate ring tone (or tones) on my house (cordless and hard wired) phones for the phone numbers (incoming) I want to answer… like family, friends, and any other number I need to answer.
Ray…I wonder if a local PC shop can check your PC for unusual outside access set-ups you many want to have wacked. Tell them what happened as much as you can recall from the discussion and places “he” took you to. Or perform a “reset” of your PC to a previous configuration, the one the day before the call.
Today’s high has been changed to 55°. There’s a 15 mph northeast wind coming across the lake that is making it feel even cooler. Got the grocery shopping done and got them put away. I checked at Wal-Mart, Radio Shack and a local computer service place but couldn’t find an adapter for my old keyboard. So instead I bought a USB keyboard that has the keys at a height I’m more comfortable with and it doesn’t have those ‘specialty’ keys scattered all over it.
No plans for today except lay back and relax. I would run a train or two but there’s parts I salvaged from the old computer laying all over it at the moment.
Chief - It seems there are a lot of politicians out there that want to attach their names to ANY kind of gun legislation, so that they can stand up and pound their chest and grandstand.
In my eyes, they are turning away from the 800 lb gorilla in the room…the lack of mental health facilities and yes, sanatoriums for folks that need to be kept away from the rest of society. It wasn’t the weaponry that was the common thread in the more notable tragedies, it was the systemic failure to identify and “shelter” those who will potentially harm others.
Just a nice easy day so far. We had the wood stove going all day. Took a nice afternoon nap, finally!!! Getting ready to leave for school. Tonight it metal fabrication. They will be introduced to the Brake, Shear, Shrinker/Stretcher and assorted hand tools.
Mom did good with her scan yesterday. The doctors are still amazed that she had no reactions to the radiation or chemo. All Positive!
[#welcome] Charlie Brown! Good Grief! Where up North are you? Looking for trains besides Ebay, I go to most of the local train shows, such as Greenberg’s. York in a couple of weeks.
Jack: I have my issues with Comcast also. There latest excuse is the infrastructure and Sandy. They like playing the Sandy Card. But since switching I have to admit that my phone service is flawless. I had a ton of problems with Verizon.
