COFFEE POT #7 July 1, 2011 for all to take a drink and chat. 6+ years and going. Plenty of fresh coffee and unsweet ice tea to drink. Plenty of FARINA for the REBs.

Hi GUYZ,

Beauty of a day here at 60. Ran an easy 2 miler and now going to pick beans to freeze. Bean crop is really good this year, gave away a lot so far and they just keep on coming. I only have 50 plants but wow, what a mess o beans. Going to stink up the house this weekend!

CHUCK glad you made it off road safely.

Stay frosty,

laz57

Good Morning

73/90 today

Post any train related item on the forum, Post anything you want here that’s within the guidelines set by CTT. They have been kind enough to give us the “pot” to goof off in. Indians won, Tigers lost yesterday and so the second half has begun. Birthday party this afternoon but no other plans for the day…S.J.

Morning. Watering garden. Was begining to dry up. Hair cut this AM [got more hair than dome of yuz giz [:-^]]. Going to run some errands and then try to go my Miss Edna’s if time permits. Need to take her some tomatoes.

Fife, I got the ribbing. [:(!]

Where is Shake and Bake???

Later.

Has been cool here for summer last week but back to full summer heat starting Monday 96-100

We have a major freeway closed this weekend to demolish a large concrete bridge over the freeway. It has been much in the news and so far the anticipated traffic jams have not materalised. Some TV stations have so far near 100% coverage of this.

There is a large antique cars musiem in my town ( Sylmar ) and my church mens group is touring it today so that will be fun.

Dennis San Fernando Valley CA.

V8Vega, are you referring to the Nethercut auto museum in Sylmar? I have been there twice. It is a great place and is free with just a reservation required. Hope you see the private rail car once owned by Lucky Baldwin’s daughter they keep out back along with a Canadian Pacific steam engine. Huel Howser did a program once about that rail car. It is a beaufiful rail car.

Regarding the freeway closure, my son works on the West Side but is not too worried about it. On the news they are calling it carmagedon.

I pulled a dumb stunt this morning and had a fall while trying to sit down in my chair at the computer. Some how the chair on rollers got pushed back so when I sat down nothing was there. I fell on the floor on my right side but nothing is broken as far as I can tell and nothing hurts. I went for a 30 minute walk later so I guess I’m OK.

Temp going up for the next week to the mid 80’s they say but it might be in the 90’s here in the San Gabriel Valley.

Just saw some photos of all the activities at the TCA National Convention in Sacramento. Looks like it was a good one. Lots of side trips were part of the deal, including trips to Lake Tahoe, Virginia City, Yosemite National Park, two railroad museums among other things and lots of layout tours.

Nobody home tonight.

Oh well banilla is ready…S.J.

Sorry I missed you SJ. Toni did cake and ice cream for me tonight with my Mom and Dad and rest of the family.

Sure was a beautiful day here in the north country. Tomorrow we hit the lake in search of some walleyes for dinner.

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s again. Friday was a good day, a very good day. I had mentioned earlier that we thought Lucas had lost some scholarship money due to his grades. I kept after him to double-check for a variety of reasons, one of which entailed going back two years to a year where he was entitled to one but no funding was available. He kept putting it off and making excuses for reasons that elude me. Finally Friday I contacted them and they said he was eligible for thre first semester only, but that if he improved his grades he could get it for the entire year. That was fabulous news!!! Perhaps I should not have done so, but I cannot see letting all that money go away just due to some unexplained issues. Only catch is that I will not tell him about the money until it shows up on his school statement…heh-heh-heh. Also, state employees got a little bonus due to the good balance sheet with the finances. Today Lucas mowed and I trimmed trees and washed two of the vehicles. Still no CTT yet. Biggest game of the year is tomorrow as US takes on Japan on ESPN and ESPN3.com. I had the regular fare on the dining car for breakfast. TBIL and I can drive. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Nephew’s birthday party still going on. We had beef tenderloin and ribs. Outstanding. Plop Plop, Fiz Fiz and off to bed.

Good evening all,

We had a pretty uneventful Saturday. The 1y/o son and I were up early and went for a walk to pick up the paper. We spent the morning lazing around but then knocked out a bunch of errands and chores in the afternoon. I smoked some wild salmon for dinner and we finished the night with a game of Bananagrams which is like Scrabble. The Yankees won tonight.

San Fernando Valley Dennis - As previously mentioned, you may post photos of your layout updates and any other train-related topics. If you search the forum for “How to post photos?” you should find some help on how to post your photos. If you are not successful send me a PM (start a conversation) and I will help you.

Dennis - The one set our Hobby Lobby has is a Santa Fe set.

Charlie - How many days are you going to stretch out this birthday thing? [^]

Good night,

Hey guys. Ran around last night until late, but did get to sleep in a bt this morning. Today, I finished a little plumbing and insulation in the basement bathroom and put up a little drywall. I still have a bit to do, along with some wiring for the fan. Maybe I’ll do some tomorrow afternoon? Char is going to check out a new church tomorrow as we are between churches at the moment. Our old one had some problems when the prior pastor retired and they sold the building etc. Hopefully this one will turn out to be a good fit.

Catching up on our Only in America episodes on the DVR - Larry is hilarious!

TARDIS is ready and we have famous Banilla plus Hudson promised us Lemon and Oreo Icecream. Let’s go!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill…

It is a cloudy 72 degrees. Going up to 84 today with a chance of rain.

Today is an easy day. The usual chores and then relax. Nascar race and ballgame. Maybe I’ll run trains later.

Dining car is here with the usual for breakfast.

Y’all have a great Sunday.

Chuck

Good morning from Roger’s Corners, OHIO.

A few isolated thunderstorms developing this afternoon. Hot. High 91F. Winds S at 5 to 10 mph. Chance of rain 30%.

Ran trains this am with smoke turned on. The whole house smells like good old fashioned train smoke. Minor repair to the old Marx 400 locomotive. It is only 55 years old, so one repair isn’t bad, but if I have to repair it again, I’m taking it back!!! [(-D][swg]

Heading to Walmart today.

Going to Panera’s for breakfast and a newspaper.

Good Morning

77/90 for today

We spent yesterday afternoon and evening with our little family. Burgers, hot dog kind of meal with birthday cookie for Jesse. His arm is doing fine, typical for a 9 year old. Still waiting for CTT, guess mines at the bottom of the PO pile. Enjoy this beautiful summer day…S.J.

Its not me its them stretching it out  lol

1 walleye in the box this morning and 5 gills. (for the Chief gills = bream)

At least the skunk is out of the box.

Takes longer when coming by dog sled.
