It is a clear and sunny 68 degrees. Going up to 82 today with sunshine.
Today is a busy day. I have to run down to Byesville and buy a new tire. Front blew out on the Interstate 77 at 70 mph. Sidewall completely torn from tread. Goodyear is replacing it. Lucky that we didn’t crash into anything.
Gas prices are still at $3.66 a gallon. I guess no one is taking charge of that. Campaign funds come first. Coffee is now at $11.00 a can. Other than that…Everything is fine.[soapbox]
Nice day here at 60, ran a really nice 2.5 miler today it was a perfect say for a run. Got all the flowers and plants watered. Today got to finish backsplash in kitchen and replace electrical outlets there to match backlash. Then gotta pick beans and freeze wrap them. GOLFed with BRO and lost again, even BUCKEYE doesn’t loose this much. Oh well its just a game.
I got the truck washed yesterday, woke up to unexpected rain shower this morning. If I had know could of had it washed a couple weeks ago, we need rain. A trip into the countryside today to visit granny’s sister and niece. Enjoy your friday the 15th.
There is no end in sight for these 100+ days. I am very thankful we have A/C. I have a nice three-mile run this morning before it became too hot, and my times are going down which is great. I ran a marathon about 1 1/2 years ago, but I have let myself slip a little. I had homemade banana bread and coffee for breakfast.
AF Ray and John - Yes, the Yankees took a shellacking last night. You know it’s going to be bad when you’re starting pitcher doesn’t make it out of the first inning.

Had two days of nice weather but sun is returning earlier today so probably will heat up this afternoon. We should have had our Thursday get together last night but some were out of town and I got a case of blahs. I think we will have to meet in the park for the rest of summer and bring a wind up train.
Heard about two good buys on an internet auction. Williams scale brass engines one of which was an SP Cab forward and the other was a big boy. They were brand new in the box and went for around $300 each. I could go for a cab forward at that price. They are no frills engines but have a sueth smoke unit. They are good runners though.
Laz, nice to hear that you are running the lokie again this year. Those things really get hot in the summer. Back in steam days, the old timers on the SP told me that they would climb down inside the water tank on the tender to cool off on the stretch between L.A. and Yuma, Arizona. When they layed over, they used to have something called a subway to sleep in which was like a miniature quanset hut covered with burlap and was soaked continuously with water from a drip pipe above. Then a recirculating pump would pump it back over the top again. That must have been how they thought of water evaporator coolers. (swamp coolers). They work good in the desert but not where there is humidity.
Debating on getting a new music player put in my car. My old original equipment tape player finally took a dump. I probably should get a CD player instead since tapes are old hat now. Before I do that though, the car needs a paint job.
Afternoon fellas and gals: Hey rt; Still get a kick out of Maz’s homer in the bottom of the ninth, back in1960. If i live to be 100 it will be one of the highlites of my life. [yeah] My younger brother cried and cried over that. I gave him plenty of jazz about it over the years. Hasn’t gotten over it even now and he is in his 60’s! Hey Charlie: You must be special to get a swell gift like that. It’s sweeeeeet! [tup] Hey Chuck: That blow out you had is becoming more common. Ordinary tires are only rated at about 85 mph. I don’t even go that fast. Methinks the tire co.‘s are skimpin’ on the manufactureing process. Checkin’ the tires from time to time could save your life. It’s a jungle out there, be careful! [:O] later.
An old pastor lay dying. He sent a message for an Internal Revenue Service agent and his lawyer to come to the hospital.
When they arrived, they were ushered up to his room. As they entered the room, the pastor held out his hands and motioned for them to sit on each side of the bed. The pastor grasped their hands, sighed contentedly, smiled and stared at the ceiling. For a time, no one said anything.
Both the IRS agent and lawyer were touched and flattered that the old man would ask them to be with him during his final moments.
They were also puzzled because the pastor had never given any indication that he particularly liked either one of them.
Finally, the Lawyer asked, Pastor, why did you ask the two of us to come here?
The old pastor mustered all his strength, and then said weakly, Jesus died between two thieves, and that’s how I’d like to go.
Good evening everyone. Was a relatively good day. No cases, but had to meet up with a sales rep for some equipment we are looking at buying before too long. Time for capital budget requests for the year to come. Have had big rain storms throughout the afternoon. Son is off at a friend’s birthday sleep over. Daughter is dancing to her recital DVDs of years past. I am waiting for UPS to deliver some contraband…a Mickey and Minnie Christmas hand car. I am hoping SWMBO will not be too mad at me for that!
CONGRATULATIONS MAYOR! At least with no one to run against, you don’t have to worry about raising funds. This could be a tough year for anyone trying to do so.
Been working on a level on the layout, trying to figure out how to run a elevated line over a lower line to make this particular scenery work…I will have to take photos soon, lots of progress going on.
Read a funny comment on a news story on the web today. The story was about Usama Bin Laden’s hit list. The comment, “The worst part of waking up…is soldiers in your hut!” Thought it was good enough to share.
Yep we had a nice day in the quiet country, no cars or truck noise for an entire afternoon. Caught some fish in their pond, put them back of course. The sled team did well but we hit some dry spots so I guess they can take a break till Labor day.
Chief I was counting on that vote(s) money for Christmas present’s. But congrats on an easy win. Banilla is waiting…S.J.
Busy busy busy!! Nice to be home though. Great news on wifey’s car, it passed. I would have bet, and lost, that more work was needed for the check engine light to stay off. At least I don’t have to hear about it anymore (couldn’t blame her though).

Chuck - Wow! That must have been quite a scare! You never know about these tires today. I had a blowout two months ago. I was about to turn off the highway, so I was slowing down. I was only doing about 35 when it happened. The 3 inch rip on the sidewall of the tire shocked me when I saw it. Just glad you’re ok.
We went out to El Chico for dinner tonight. Chili’s was the wife’s first choice, but it was too crowded and there was a long wait. I am not a fan of El Chico but sometimes you have to take one for the team. We grabbed some frozen yogurt at a self-serve place called Cherry Berry. There are a few places that are similar: you fill your cup, add some topping, and you pay based on the weight. It is fairly priced and pretty tasty. We then had a quick pass through the Hobby Lobby. They have an Atlas O Industrial Rail set on clearance for $93. It was originally priced $259; I’ve watched it continuously drop since Christmas. If it was a PRR model and we weren’t moving in two months I would buy it. It comes with track and an 80W transformer.
The Yankees got dumped again tonight, but at least the Sox were losing too.
SJ - I’m glad you had a good time and didn’t overwork the sled team. I suppose you could have fed them the fish you caught.
Is it appropiate to report progress or plans for your layout on the main forum? I see people do that with pictures but I am not good enough with computers to do pictures and I don’t have any family here to advise me.
Mornin’ boys. Sunny & 72 here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Lots of prep-work to do today for the Fife-surge across the Potomac. I shall have my trusty ukulele by my side. Did the bike-O2 stress test yesterday, and nice lady-tech said my readings looked good. She had to shave some of my chest hair, and I cracked her up with a man-o-lantern statement.

Morning all. Getting ready to go fetch son from the sleep over. Since Hobby Lobby is on the way, I will stop there first to check some things out. I am looking for some stock to use on risers for that El. line. Rained all night and continues this morning. Son has a Sunday School pool party today, but I think it will be cancelled.
Joe, if Hobby Lobby has the Atlas Southern set on such a clearance, I will get it. Fife, That picture of Boss Hog is too funny. IF we could get a shot like that of our forum Mayor… just think of the fun we could have!
