COFFEE POT 7A, CLOSED [see #8]

What a great day, another Buckeye is on board!!! And he is from Hilliard, the home of the Buckeye Yard!!!

Welcome Bill!!!

And it is also:

TGIF

the home of the Buckeye Yard!!!

It is pretty desolate over there since the NS shut down operations. Earlier in the week must have been a few hundred auto transports stored on the tracks. In its hey day a darn busy hump yard with a freight coming or going about every 30 to 45 minutes.

Welcome Bill! Didn’t make my goal of spending $100K by lunchtime as part of our office move prep - will have to go into next week [;)]

I really don’t exist. I am a figment of everyone’s imgaination.

Afternoon. BUSY day at TOWN HALL. Well, Fifey and others. Played the 911 tapes to the young man and his dad. Then ran the in-car carmera videos. Youg man came forward and said, “I understand why the officers did what they did.” Suddenly the dislike turned to the 911 caller. He told complete lies. He did not see the guy shoot, guy did not shoot from the highway as he said and so on. I will repeat what the dad said next. “He is a Yankee that moved down here.” [(-D] Thought I would laugh out loud. All left happy and so that was a good one. Copied 127 property owners letters protesting the way election of Board members is being held and the Secretary of the Board endorsing her picked canidates. Then I gave the ones I picked [“old heads” that are calm and want things calm]. Then stuff them in envelopes, licked them [xx(] [yuck], put stamps on them and return labels on them. Gone by way of USPS. Now to hit the road to the lake house.

I want to really thank the new “Pot” visitors. It is so nice to see them posting and this is summer when posting slows. I saw that I am happy even though one is a BUCKEYE!!!.

Evening folks,

Just wanted to stop in and say hello. Not much going on except for work related crud, which would bore you to tears. I’ll be glad when the kids are gone, 8 full school days and 2 early dismissals. Monday I have a big meeting which is a most difficult case. I hope it goes well.

Hope to get out in the train room tomorrow. Time for a good cleaning and some train time.

Take care,

Mitch

I’ m amazed that some of you have really good photo postings something I have to learn. I am busy like everyone else with the family and young kids etc… I do manage to find time for trains one way or another and if I not doing that (or working) I am on the boat up on Lake Winnipesaukee ( been going there for years and I can stil barely spell it) in New Hampshire. Yep and I mentioned family too, my wife is good sport about all my nutty hobbies. Chief mentioned summer-- Whats that? 50 degrees and drizzle here in NH today, hopefully we will warm up soon…

I do like CTT site, it seems less of the “judgement” compared to some other Model RR and O sites.

I’m most anxious to “see” how you like your new camera, thought’s? Also would enjoy seeing how your layout progress is coming along, I’m probably the only person around that truly enjoys progress shots, even a blank room from the start. Would even enjoy seeing your “haul” from York [:)]

Have a good weekend, hope your’e not on call.

Jon’s comment made me think of a question about cameras. Is there a digital SLR being made with the swivel viewing screen?

even though one is a BUCKEYE!!!.

LOL, not really, even though one of my daughters attended Ohio State and now a grandson will be attending Ohio State I still have West Coast blood running through the veins. I will say though The Ohio State University has one heck of a sports program, big bucks all the way.

Don - I like your stimulus package idea. I volunteer to restore International Cub Cadets have all the restoration parts add to the package.

Seeyak Bill - Welcome!

Ole Timer - I just noticed and heartily approve of the cab-forwards on the bottom of your post. One of my favorite you tube videos is the one of the 4294 making her last run up Donner Pass in the late 50’s.

Another rainy day here on the mountain. Not much going on 'til later tonight probably. Finally got some decent sleep today even though I had to get up to talk to the HVAC service guys. Due to the altitude I tend to not sleep well after the first shift. I think I might finish reparing one of the old radios I finally got the parts for tonight. I’ve promised this one to a friend and it’s been waiting for attention for some time.

Checked into taking Amtrak from Flagstaff to La Junta, CO this summer when I make my annual summer pilgrimage to Colorado and then on to South Dakota. I’m not a huge fan of airports, but it’s always been hard to take the train north-south in this part of the country (you should have seen the route our concentrate had to take to get to the smelter north of Tucson from the operation I was working at in Nevada). Even w/ the bus fare to Flagstaff, it’s still quite a bit less than flying. I took Amtrak from Seattle to Tucson last summer and enjoyed it so much I thought I’d look for other opportunities. Should be a fun trip.

Bob

What do you need a swivel viewing screen on a digital camera for? I can understand one on a camcorder, but on a camera?

Most Digital SLR’s do not allow you to view the picture on the LCD anyway - you are supposed to be viewing the image through the lens (purpose of the SLR). Most non-SLR cameras you aren’t looking through the lens…

Good Evening

[#welcome]To all the new guys.

Warm 77 today, stayed home and did run a train or two. Spent some time talking to Charlie as he was heading north on I75, he is going turkey hunting tomorrow. He might have saved some gas just by hunting for one on here [:-^]. Brutus says the Tardis will be late but banilla is waiting…S.J.

Good evening all. Grandkids have gone home with their mom. HO Thomas and the rest of the trains received quite a work out.

On a more sobering note I found out this evening my niece has been committed to an in patient mental health program. Seems she’s been seriously contemplating suicide. Such a sad thing for a beautiful young girl due to receive her High School diploma on Monday. I don’t know a lot about it but I do know that bullying is involved. She went from an Honor Student 3rd marking period to almost not graduating.

Please keep her in your prayers

Evenin’ All.

Two very long days at the museum and another to go on sunday, I’m pooped. Rock-N-Roll marathon on sunday has lots of road closures making it a major pain to get there at a reasonable time so it was tuff getting people to sign-up. Thankfully we rounded-up two more today so there will be three of us.

Bob, I was talking to some visitors at the museum a few weeks back about the Gadsden meet, they said that there were some “G” layout tours being arranged. I had to chuckle when they said that there would be groups coming in from the northern tier of states wondering about the 115*+ temps and monsoons.

Gased up the truck, sure blew a big hole in a $50 bill. Fast food $1 menus would have been beyond the balance. [:(]

Good grief, forgot what else I wanted to add.

SJ Who do you have in mind? I have the 12 gauge loaded with Turkey loads [:-^]

Good evening all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 70s. Lucas and I mowed the yard and all three of us did housework (“saucy wench” did most of indoor work). Saw Night at Museum Thursday night. Very good. After yard work was done, walked to YMCA, did weights and walked back home. Went to a graduation party tonight for a co-worker. Went to Cheesecake Factory. Good food but pricey. Banks, been down that road although not as severe a situation as the one facing your niece. Prayers going out to you, buddy. Beacon is lit and I can drive the late shift. I had the regular fare on the dining car this morning. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Right Mike, you can drive  SJ has the banilla ready! Gotta hit the hay to get up at 5 AM for work. The new Terminator movie was really great - loved it! A couple big surprises in there that I won’t give away! No trains today, all take care and I’ll catch up on the pot tomorrow.

Good Morning All, spent a couple hours last night working on the second level of the layout. This will be the logging division short line where the MTH Weyerhaeuser Shay will call home. Installed an operating track above the log mill so the operating log cars will be able to dump their logs which will roll down the slope to the mill.

Grandson number 3 will be here tonight so some train operation will be on the menu along with a game of monopoly. I always throw a $10 bill in the winners pot, strange how the grandson always wins the pot.

Buckeye,

Take a look at the Canon S5IS

http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=144&modelid=15207

I have the Canon S3 6.0 MP version. Best camera for the money on the market. IMHO

The swivel viewing screen is great for low level shots where you can’t get your eye to the viewfinder. Also works great when you have to raise the camera over your head to take a picture in a crowd. I don’t think I would want a “general use” camera that didn’t have a swiveling viewing screen after using the S3.

Mornin’ boys. Mornin’ English. Sunny. That’s good.
