COFFEE POT #8, for all to take a drink and chat. Welcome all posters. 4 yrs old and still going.

The wasps build their nests under the overhang of the main deck here. Have to clean them out once/twice a year.

LAZ57 - How did you make out regarding the lumber you were going to get?

Just heard the horn on the Cuyahoga Valley Railroad tourist train. Seems like the train is running more frequently this year. Don’t remember hearing it in the middle of the week last year, but then again I may just be forgetful.

P.S. Doug Murphy - I have been working on a much smaller wood working project the past couple of weeks. If it turns out okay, will post pictures.

Morning all!

Another hot one today. Partly sunny.

Our train club will be working a 4x8 portable layout for the Museum of American RR Kigs Fest on Saturday. This is a fun event. They also run a small steam caliope and have a rack of steam loco whistles that they let the kids blow. They use an old passenger diesel loco steam generator to make the steam. Looks like it will be nice and HOT for the event.

Wes and Greg - nice job on the decks and yes screws are better - particularly if you need to replace a board.

Mitch - Happy 30th! The missus and I had our 23rd this year pushed aside by the “princess” B-Day and HS graduation. We have to do a make up dinner this weekend hopefully.

Got to run. Have a great day all!

Morning all,

Chief, that sounds like a good meal. I like spinach but we did not have it growing up in the South where I lived. I guess it was because we only ate what vegetables we grew in the garden and that was’nt one of them. We had collard greens and things like that. Those traction tires must have been on an older engine if it was MTH. The newer ones have screws on the side frames of the trucks that can be removed without taking off the engine shell. The traction tire thing can be a real headache on some engines, especially steam. I hate to have to take a whole engine apart just to change the lousy tire. Some people are talking about this Bullfrog Snot lately to replace tires but I don’t know if that would fill up the groove in the wheels. That stuff looks pretty thin.

Afternoon. Been resting up. Wake up at 6 AM and had bells ringing in my ears [well that was how it sounded] and head was drunk. Back to bed and slept till 8:30. Still undtable but no ringing. Think it is sinus thing. Ate tomato sandwiches [from the garden] for brunch. Several cups of coffee and feel some better. Clouds and sun. Have now had 2.25+ inches of rain. Hoping it will dry before 3 PM [haircut] so I can mow. Got to go to lake house and mow too. Garden is jumping and tomatoes are growing bigger and bigger.

Wes and Greg, I will buy materials and you two come and build screened in porch on to lake house. Promise to give you room and board. [:)]

Glad to see another buddy from across the pond posting too.

Got to run. Have a good one.

PS: how about some photos

Lucy in summer haircut.

Garden from the side

Another warm day here in the Ol’ Pueblo, but looks like we may have rain in store for the weekend. Well they just told me to stop taking one of the medications so so far so good. Still fairly darn tired at times, but I think we are getting there. Imaging tomorrow so we will see where that goes.

Had an overnight camping trip on the schedule for this weekend, but I am still playing that by ear. Would be good to get out of the house but I’m supposed to meet a friend from Phoenix area on the north side of the Catalinas and not sure I want to drive that far. I’ve been trying to limit my automotive forays.

Wes and Greg the decks look nice. We don’t see too much of that around here. Was as Builder in the Seabees and while wood is not my best subject, I do appreciate nice work. Chief - that garden and yard of yours looks great. I have just one question for you guys: what is all the green stuff on the ground?

Bob

Good afternoon,

SJ, sorry I missed the big day, but a little late [bday]. Now you have caught up to me for a short time.

Mitch, Happy 30th. It’s been quite a while since we visited Shady Maple, Son & family were just there this week, his wife’s boss treated her whole department for having great sales this spring (farm equipment parts). Looks like some businesses are doing well.

Jim, Prayers for your wife that all works out well.

Nice decks guys. Last one I built was about 20 years ago at our beach place at the time.

May not get back on before the weekend, so all have a great one.

Sounds like the dang things up here—except they like to place their nests in leaning garages that get taken down----with attendent screams coming from those just discovering the nest(s)—

Bob, hope the meds are working?

Wes and Greg - very good work guys [tup] Now I know who to call in a couple years [;)]

Banilla - technically this is Sir James 1’s term for vanilla icecream, as pronounced by his grandson [:)]

Well, was going to mow, but the heat index hit 102! Going to be down in the 80’s on the weekend again, so maybe wait and do it then. Well, might do the front yard today…

Chief - very nice yard and gardens! Looks different from the ground [(-D]

Be back later!

Chief - As tempting as your offer is,I have never built anything with a roof, so I think I better pass.

Brutus - Just want to warn you, at my age I work really, really, slow. I also want to say that I wish your wife a speedy recovery.

well it came in and I put a Railking Passenger car behind it

RT, all I see is s NS diesel. [:-^]

It is so humid, you can go outside and stand still and sweat.

Garden growing. Just finished picking. Tobacco in the field around the back fence [you can see in picture] is growing so fast you can watch it move upward. [:O]

Chat later.

Might it have been a little easier to see if’n the pic was done standing up?[:-^][swg]

BTW–it is a passenger car[tup]—the picture on the posting page was big enough to see-[swg]

Quick stop by from beautiful Hilton Head, SC. Just got back from Hudson’s which is a seafood place here (go figure). Have been eating lots of shrimp, fish, hush puppies. Meeting has been very good. I actually have been spending the whole day at the meeting instead of enjoying the beach only a few yards away.

Will remain here till Sunday. On the way up, stopped and shot some photos of a old Souther steal sided caboose. Also saw a crane on the rails. It was painted blue with “Salvage” written on the side. I missed getting a photo of that and also a Heart OF Georgia engine working a siding. Perhaps on the way home if I don’t get too anxious to get home.

Well, hope everyone is doing well. Will try to check in again later in the week.

Dennis

Good Evening

Turned into a very nice day. But tomorrow it appears will be thunder storms and 80s.

I had a busy afternoon, even got out some 40s & 50s Lionel. A drop of oil and some track to run on and off they went just smoking their little lungs out. And no battery malfunctions with any of them. Brutus I am ready with a fresh batch of banilla so swope on down…S.J.

Lucas gives the Lionmaster BB [tup]

RT - SWEET! You got a good deal man [tup] What a great anniversary present!

Looks like Two Big Boys to me [:)] Way to go Charlie!

Doug M - have a great trip and happy 20th! [:)]

Greg - I don’t work too fast, it promotes rust, lol!

Nice chats with RT, Kurt, SJ, Charlie and Doug tonight [tup]

TARDIS is ready and I think it’s Patrick’s turn to drive? Of is it Mike’s? Either way, on the way guys [(-D]

Well so far the two meds at the same time have been overshooting a bit so they have pulled me off of one for now. Still getting used to the other and have to crash out from time to time, but all in all things are a lot better. Tomorrow imaging of the internals which means nothing to eat for a bit. It would seem that Friday is a day of fasting for me.

Just got back from the Thurs service and potluck. Was nice to actually sit thru a whole service. A few folks were asking questions about what they had heard. A few more wide eyed responses, but also a lot of support.

RT - the GG1 looks good! Is that one of the Williams versions?

Well I better takes my meds, find a pillow, and try not to think about food for the next 12 hours.

Night

Bob

90’s and humid here. At least it has not rained for a couple of days.

Mowed the back yard toinght - Was soaking wet when done, so I figgured the front could wait another day.

Some sort of rucus a couple of houses away - two police crusers, two ambulances, and several civilian cars. Probably will make the radio news in the morning. At least no gun shots this time around.

Suprised the wife this morning. We have been admiring a sculpture in an art galery downtown for a couple of weeks. I stopped in yesterday at lunch time, bought it, and hid it in the house. Went out for dinner last night and ‘had’ to have ice cream downtown a couple of stores down from the art galery. Well, the sculpture is gone from the display window, and my wife is dissapointed. Took the sculpture out of hiding after she went to bed and said nothing. Got a very happy phone call at work from her when she found it!

Jim - encouraging news about your wife. Hope all continues to improve.

Anjdevil2 - If at all possible, send your princess to Italy. Seeing the history first hand and the different culture is an education in itself. Years ago I was a counslor on a seinor high work project trip to Hungary. Watching the kids have new experiences and learn from them is priceless.

Mitch - congratulations on your 30th.

Bob - glad to hear you are making progress with your blood pressure.

RT- I’ve got a line on the brake hood now. They also stock helicopter repair parts that I could use. Thanks.

Later, all.

TGIF

Busy weekend planned. Moving furniture.

Oh that engine I have for sale on choochoo.
