COFFEE POT for January 2018. Breakfast buffet. Eggs, pancakes, sausage, bacon, grits, hash browns, biscuits and sausage gravy.

Evening all!

Big cold front will hit tomorrow and they are predicting SNOHIZO!

Big set back today on the cold or whatever this is…totally wiped out…ugh…later

Roy,

Think its time to call in reinforcements, this years flu is pretty dangerous from what I’ve been told. You need to get to the Dr.

Good morning,

55 but 17 by bedtime. Snow is all but gone. Single digits by Sunday. No wonder everyone is sick.

I am holding my own but wifey sounds bad. Going to try to get her in to see if she can get something for the cough.

Don’t have much in the works but to hang out and rest up.

Good Afternoon from 61°F Southern Ohio,

With these temps it’s hard to believe the bottom is going to drop out tomorrow. The predicted snow is to start Friday evening, so Saturday we will be shoveling the hill on the driveway and sledding. Last night after work I took some of the outside decorations down to get a head start so I can get the decorations down and put away Friday.

Roy – Take care of yourself

Spank – Daughter is a big Star Wars fan and she said there is some kind of agreement not to CGI the Leia character. She said there is a lot of footage that can be used but will require script re-writes

May God bless

Jim

Hey all!

Temps plummeting. Started in the mid 50’s and headed to 30’s this afternoon. Howling north wind at 20-50 mph.

Thanks for the concerns. Wife and I already hit our respective doc’s last week. Both on antibiotics. Nothing else to do but wait and watch out for pneumonia.

Actually better today. I was able to sleep in for once.

News all in a snit here. Might get an INCH of snow. They have whipped the city into a shame frenzy to spend a lot of money pre-treating all the roads when the probability is extremely low. Man the plows!

Guten abend,

It’s almost bedtime here but I figured I had time for a quick post. I was able to successfully close my utilities accounts today and check off some other to-do list items. Tomorrow, I will sell my car and ship another. We will use a rental until we depart on Tuesday. The house we will rent in Virginia has a 16x13 room that is mine to use as a train room. Initially I wanted to use the entire room for a layout but now I am deciding to not go that route. We will rent this house and probably live there only two years; therefore, I do not want to build an elaborate, large for me, layout for such a short period of time. I want to run trains soon as they have been in boxes for almost two years. Also, my comic book collection is growing and I would like to dedicate some of the room to that hobby. I may post on OGR asking for help designing a 5x12 layout using what track inventory I have. I have a fair amount of Snap Track and FasTrack. When I finally have a permanent layout I will probably not use either of those as Snap Track has limited availability and diameter size nowadays and I found FasTrack loud and expensive. I do not want to invest in more track for a temporary layout and want to use my existing inventory. At this time I am okay with the layout having two different track systems. I need to get some rest now.

Don B. - If we forget something, the wife will buy another. [;)]

Good night,
Joe

Well - just before dark we got one snowflake on the pool deck. I quickly ran out and poured half a cup of rock salt on it so it did not turn into sheet ice…

Roy you should have used a whole bag of salt, snowflakes are tricky.

I got one day of green grass, last nights rain turned to snow this morning. Winter has returned. Club meet tomorrow, train show on Sunday.

S.J.

SJ - I should have recorded the flake and sent it in to the news! I saw more snow than most of the news channels!

Still 29 right now. Maybe 40 today and 20’s again tonight. 20 mph winds. Sunny.

Yo-yo’ing on this disease. Yesterday was a good day and today is another setback. Each setback day seems a little better than the previous bad day. 12th day.

Hello there,

weather idiots are in a tizzy. 60 here this AM. Supposed 16 tomorrow. Anywhere from a “trace” to a blizzard of snohio depending on which “model” you believe.

Yesterday son and I got the buzz saw on the Oliver and got the new lacer on the belt. Cut a wheelbarrow load of wood to check it out. Worked good. Finally ready to cut trees.

I think I might have caught Roy’s crud. Tired, achy, tummy churning and copious amounts of gas coming out of both ends. Gonna reclinerize till it’s time to get Mrs.

Later.

Prayers for those in need.

Someone left the freezer door open again. [:S]

Guten abend,

Friday was busy and productive. I shipped one vehicle and sold the other. The shipping process actually took less time than the selling process. There were some discrepancies with the inspection paperwork for the car I sold which added another 45 minutes to the process. We are now driving a rental car until we leave Tuesday and then we will have a rental car once we arrive to BWI. I should be off to bed soon.

Good night,

Joe

Sat. 81 Sun. 82 Mon. 78 it’s still cold at night and the morning. You have to be willing to live under Communism to enjoy this weather.

At food for less I bought some groceries and left a gallon of milk in my cart in the parking lot. I was nearly home when I realised it and immediately went back.

I had the receipt and told the checkout clerk what I did and she said no one had turned it in. sorry.

So I got another gallon and went to a different checkout and told her and she asked a manager and they let me have the milk for free.

My friend Bill who is getting dementia age 77. I used to cut out articles of interest to him in the paper but now he can’t remember the le

Good evening all,

Stayed home today and had a dental appointment instead. Work was busy on Thursday. Went to see “Darkest Hour” Thursday night. Very, very, very good movie. Watched “Rock of Ages” tonight. Really laughed a lot. Talked to Lucas tonight. They are doing well. Get to watch 3 soccer matches this weekend. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Late check in - just went out to close up the grill - we had burgers tonight. Still around 50 degrees.

Man, had even more heavy rain on the way home. Plus a nice back up on 287N in Morristown due to residuals from an earlier accident at Rt 10 plus the left lane being flooded. Ugh, these are the days I hate this commute.

Have a good night all!

Roy, hope you are doing better on the flu. Tomorrow will be two weeks since I came down with a virus. Antibiotics don’t work on it. I tried that. Also cough medicine, inhalers, nose spray, nothing seems to do much good. Cough comes and goes but is still with me after two weeks. Have been to doctors three times with no improvement. Now I have a new problem with my feet. Foot doctor thought it was athletes foot and gave me medicine for it but not working too good. Will probably have to go back to my dermatologist. Have appointments this month with gastrointerologist and dentist. Too many appointments. My sister with cancer in N.C. just broke her hip. Cancer is attacking her bones now. She has survived for 6 years with it but it is catching up with her now. Also my brother has been diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. He is responding to treatment so far. This year is starting off with a bang. Here’s hoping for better days ahead.

Ray

Mornin’ boys. Whatever the white precip is on the ground, it’s treacherous to walk on. A bit concerned about the dinner train I’m conducting tonight, as the tuntable tends to freeze up. Perhaps push/pull would be safer…

Welllll, got the ruined carpet all cut up, bagged, and outside. It was stinkin’ up the joint. Got a contractor on tap for the drywall repair. Waiting on adjustor from insurance now. House is a mess with everything we had in storage out and about.

Y’all need a few quarts of homemade chicken soup!

Hey, sorry, I’ve been missing in action…

I’m in Jacksonville, FLA USA for training for the new job. I’m on week 2 of 2, as I’m training to become a automotive diagnostic techncian. I will not be working on cars, but diagnosing them and then clearing the codes out. Better pay, better future and just about the same commute only going south.

Got a call from my LHS that my LionChief+ Blue Comet has arrived, so I’ll have to make arraignments to get that taken care of.

Weather here, for the most part, has been warm in the 50s and cloudy.

Thursday it was 75 and yesterday it was 70. It will be back in the 50’s all week.

I’m fighting off the crud as well, dosing with as much Vitamin C as possible. I’m ok, but I can feel it.

Hope to check back during the week, prayers to those in need…

Guten abend,

Our Saturday has been calm and relaxing, which was the first day of that sort in a while. The boys will be sleeping at some friends tonight, so the wife, princess, and I will dine out. The princess spent five hours with friends this afternoon. She is sad about leaving them. I cashed in all my loose euro change I will not need; came out to 54 euros. It’s time to go eat.

SP Ray - I will be praying for you and your family.

Joe

Mornin’ all!

What a temperature drop! I said in an earlier post that it was 50° at midnight; at 11:30AM it’s now 21°. Need to scrape some ice off of the ‘Q’ before putting it away today.

Should probably explain that last comment: I ran out of propane on my main Weber grill over New Year’s: the equipment rental shop I normally go to was closed for the holiday, so I swung by the gas station that’s been my fall back. I normally don’t like to use it, as it’s a little more expensive and manned by people who don’t speak English, but any port in a storm. Except it had changed hands, gone from a Valero to an Amaco. AND, it no longer sold propane. Ugh! They’d taken out the tank and everything. So I was out of luck. Anyway, I pulled my Weber ‘Q’, which is my tailgating grill, out of storage and have been using that since NYE. So once I fill the tank today for the main grill, that goes back into storage.

Funny that it’s so hard to find propane here: in Virginia everybody sells it. I know Home Depot and Lowes have that tank swap scheme, but I use my own tanks that have quick disconnects on them.

So the Christmas decorations come down today. Including the outside lights: we’ve been one of the last houses to have them on. But all good things must come to an end.

Have a goode one!
