[#welcome] Jim!!!

Here is yesterday’s train time after the crash clean up.

Good evening all,

First of all, a warm welcome to Jim. Always good to have more Hoosiers here. Cold today. Had oil changed on Grand Caravan. Grandkids were here and they had a good time. Worked on the puzzle some more. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Evening all!

Nice day earlier. 50’s. Pundits keep saying we will get some snowhizo tonight but nothing so far. Will be worse to the south. Houston has already announced their schools will close tomorrow! Temps plummeting - biting cold. Will not go above freezing tomorrow. Ugh.

First day I felt well enough to get off the couch. With the nice weather I finally (it had been sitting for over 2 years) installed some new weatherstripping around my garage door. Worked better than I hoped. Seals the sides and top when closed. There is already a rubber strip on the bottom (double steel insulated door).

Then I moved back to my office files cleanup. Emptied another file drawer of paper. All needs to be shredded.

At last some progress on a couple of things after 2 weeks of doing nothing.

Ray - good news finally! [angel]

Kev - glad to hear you guys are doing better. That was a big smile on the grandsons face at the beginning of the video. Layout looks good!

Chief - hope you avoid the crud!

Jim - Welcome!

Hello there,

been slacking last couple o days.

Thankfully Friday’s rumbling and gas was done by bedtime. Saturday was spent sleeping really late and chauffeuring Mrs and some coworkers to and from the 1st birthday party of her teacher’s son.

Killed some time at the only train store in the area. Sometimes he has vintage stuff at reasonable prices. None this time but I did get some Athearn horns to replace some I have missing.

Mrs was off today and we spent yesterday and today doing some cleanout.

Gonna crash soon. Later.

Prayers for those in need.

Renewed my subscription to CTT and Trains this afternoon. Get home tonight and have some stupid email messages saysing thanks and I will get my first issue of each in 4 to 6 weeks. I’m sure it is computer generated messages. Dummy, renewal. [%-)]

Suppose to keep Grandson tomorrow as his babysitter is sick. [:O] Wifey has appointments most of the day.

PS: kin to this software. see what it did.

Mornin’ all!

Snow’s coming, just not sure when it’s supposed to start. Gonna be a steep gradient in NJ: NW could get up to 6", coast could get nothing. Of course all that could change if some damn butterfly in Vietnam sneezes.

Linda’s got an interview today, so she’s been stressing about that since Sunday. I’ll almost be glad when that’s over.

Measured the boys on Sunday: Tyler has been static height-wise since August, no growth. Corey, on the other hand, appears to be in a growth spurt. He shot up 3/4" in this period, which was only 7 weeks. (I’ve timed the periods so that they coincide to Tyler’s b-day on 3/3, normally I do 8 weeks.) Tyler’s putting on some muscle from swimming, but he still needs to eat more. A lot more.

Corey had a friend over yesterday, so they took out more of the Christmas trains and ran them, which I think is great. Still have a couple more to take out, so we’ll do that this weekend.

Have a good one.

Overcast with a high of 20. Our monthly club meet on Saturday eve went well and Sunday’s large train show was good although it appeared that attendance was down.

Good Afternoon from snowy 15°F Southern Ohio,

The kids are off from school today. What started as a two hour delay was extended to taking the whole day off due to the snow and bad roads. At 5:30 am on the way into work it was just starting and by the time I got to work there was two fresh inches on top of ice. It has been snowing all day and the county has declared a level 3 emergency road conditions so the big bosses at work here said for the night shift not to come into work until the road conditions improve. Time will tell if I have to stay here at work or I can leave at the end of the shift at 7:00 pm.

A bunch of the kid’s friends came to our place to sled down the front hill. It was great sledding Saturday and with the additional snow it is bound to be better. I wish I was at home to sled with them.

The amount of snow we’re getting this year is an anomaly. It is like the snows when I was a kid. I’m thinking of getting a blade for the tractor to scrape the snow off the drive. Doing it by hand takes the boys and I about 5 hours as the whole drive is about long and the hill pretty steep for about 100 yards. We would have about $900 in the blade, weights and chains. Bride says buy it but I am reluctant.

Jim – Welcome back to the pot and to trains.

Spanky – What ages are they at? The girls (15 & 14) have settled down height wise and swimming has really toned them up. Gabriel has slowed but just turning 15 he is at 5’10” and a solid 190 and always hungry!

All who have had the crud – sounds like symptom

Good afternoon,

Jim, Get the blade and save your back. I installed a free truck plow from our neighbor Brain on my loader. It works great and except for the cold I like it way better than plowing with the truck plow I got this year because you can see so much better and pile snow 8 to 10 foot high because the plow is on the end of the loader.

Here is the set up on the tractor. I also have chains for the front drive tires on the tractor and that does the trick…

Evening all!

Started at 20 this am, made it to about 26, and will go to 12 tonight. The record low here ever recorded is -8.

No snow or ice here in town, so we dodged it, but east of here got hit, jamming all the interstates. South of here will get bad tonight. Raining in Houston and some freeway ramps closed due to the ice.

Continuing to improve and actually got about 8 hrs last night. Sorely needed. Got a long ways to go to catch up but this is the best I have felt in over 2 weeks. Some lingering cough…hack hack…

DJ - hope Linda’s interview went well.

At least I do not have to worry about snow blowers, shovels, and plows!

Stay safe and warm!

Good evening all,

Quiet day at work. Did not have much to catch up on as most people took Friday off as well. Tried to go for a walk outside at noon, but it was too brutal even for all the clothes I had on. Worked some more on the puzzle. I got an early edition of the March CTT for reasons you will see. I forgot to comment on the passing of a legend yesterday as pertaining to Dan Gurney. The man was a racer, and will be remembered also for his innovative skills. His win in F1 as an American driver in an American chassis with an American engine will be long noted. The likes of him will not be seen again. I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Aloha. Super-super-cold this morning - and I sure felt it on my walk to work though a warm-up is pending! MikeC, I look forward to the March issue! How big is the puzzle you are doing? Is it train-themed? SJ, I enjoyed watching the latest club video

Welcome back to the King of Scales, Jim!

DJ, I know what you mean - I just signed the youngest up for drivers ed and they scheduled him for class beginning at 6 am. LOL.

Mornin’ boys. Snohizo and 19 along the Patterson Creek cut-off. Already shoveled most off of drive, and helped my garbage man load all the ruined carpet. Usually I would have the pellet stove rolling, but not cool at all inside.

Wifey and I did venture to Lowe’s, where I picked up 3 very sturdy storage shelf units, and she started looking at replacement carpet. Still back-and forth with insurance company trying to get an adjustor to come out… Room is pretty much dried out, and ready for drywall man to do his thing.

I have seen the light.

A meteor soared from the sky with a bright flash and a big Ka-boom yesterday evening. Lots of Pictures on TV this morning.

We started at 7 degrees going to 25. A little warmer for the weekend so they say.

S.J.

Morning. Was sick late Monday night until 11 yesterday. Not sure if bug or food I got at restaruant. Not fun. Tummy mussels sore from throwing up. Doing good today.

35 degrees and snowing. Temps to drop. Schools closed.

Slept good yesterday evening and then slept till 8:30 this AM. Unusual.

Kev, that is a nice rig you have.

All stay warm and dry.

Good morning, Seems like everyone is up and getting around.

That must of been neat to see SJ.

Like Doug said.

Sunny -2 heading to 18 no new snow. and things should warm up tomorrow.

SS payday so off to Krogers after lunch.

Feel a little better today, wife is in the bedroom still hacking but not near as much. Wish she would give up the darn cigs. They can’t help.

Chief, when your 1/2 mile from the road you got to have equipment.[;)]

Wed. 81 Thur. 74 Fri. 64

They have been taking 2 lane roads in some parts of the LA area and changing to 1 lane and a bike lane. With millions and millions of cars all over and almost no bicycles that makes no sense but that doesn’t matter to the politicians who hate cars.

Yesterday I went down a road in my town where they had just done this. Fortunately I don’t go there that much but it may well cause traffic bunch up where I do go. Also there building huge apartments or townhouses along this road causing even more traffic.

In another area the people raised such a hough and cry they reluctantly changed it back to two lanes and there is a recall started for that city councilman.

Howdy all!

They closed schools again this morning - I love getting woken up early to get that message. Had about 3-4 inches on the ground when I cleared the driveway and left for work around 9:20. Heavy stuff, packed near the bottom where it initially melted when hitting the ground.

Traffic was lighter than normal, but still plenty of idiots who think that since the weather’s bad they can fart along in the left lane. When I encounter them I take solace in this:

hell

Sounds like it went great, but is probably not a position she wants. However, given she hasn’t been on a professional interview in over a decade, I think it did loads for her confidence.

Tyler’s 14 - he’s probably around 5’8", Corey’s 12 and he’s at 5’2½". Tyler is only about 118 lbs: getting him to eat is extremely hard. Been that way ever since he finished chemo treatment. I swear if he ate at anywhere near a normal rate he’d be up around 130. He doesn’t have an ounce of fat on him, which is not good for his age.

Not much else going on. Have a good one.

Afternoon/evening all!

Was 14 when I got up this morning. Made it to 34. Went out for some errands, felt like a heat wave. Hey - supposed to hit 70by Friday!!!

DJ - do some interviews for jobs less desired is indeed good practice for when the good job opening comes along. Good luck to Linda!

Dennis - yes it is amazing how we elect folks and then they do nothing to actually represent us. I am dealing with a very fiscally ignorant city area representative/councilman.

Today was a good day. About the same as yesterday. Not bad all things considered.

Took a pair of old Red Wing steel toed boots to Red Wing today. They repair them. Send them back to the factory. Not cheap, but much less than a new pair. Had to stand in some water and part of the sole separated. They take a long time to break in so this is a good deal.
