Cold time on the layout tonight
My S-Gauge layout is housed in my garage. I have learned that when it is hot inside, don’t open the garage door. When the door is opened you only let the humidy in. I use a dehumidifer from Spring to Fall and it makes it very nice in there. I also found out that taking a giant pool nooddle and cutting a slint in it and placing under the garage door, not only will keep it warmer in the Winter months but will help keep our dirt and dust.
My layout is in an outbuilding where weather conditions determine if we can run them or not. I’ve not had problems with any of the 7 loops I run. During the coldest part of winter I bring all the locos as close together as possible (they’re on 3 levels) and put an electric space heater on low under them. This makes running them much easier come spring.
