Give that man a cigar! And that’s the original Shop-Rite logo from 1946. It’s also the reason I chose 1946 as the locomotive number.

The Train Barn, Kalamazoo MI

The shop’s 3,000 square foot 3-rail O gauge layout was featured in the November 1997 issue of Classic Toy Trains magazine. According to page 30 of the June 2003 issue of MR magazine, a woman wrote a marriage proposal on a caboose as it ran on the layout, and the proposal ended up marrying a regular customer.

Aw, now WHO doesn’t love a good love story? Especially when the pair share a common interest?
“The couple that chugs together hugs together!” Or something.

“You’ll never know how great a kiss can feel 'till you stop at the top of the Ferris Wheel!”
Why did Mister Mike put out a Palisades Park car? For all those folks from the area who remember! And I’m sure they sold VERY well. There’s two different MTH Pal Park cars and I’ve got both.

The real Palisades Park song was "Come On Over!’

Shows and dance, singer free
So’s the parking, so gee… (all the time I was growing up I thought they were saying ‘cheap’…)

If I remember correctly it was the first pool so large it had ocean waves in it. That’s in the song too…

Had one of my early birthdays there, in the very early Sixties. The thing I remember to this day was my father stripping $20s off a roll, repeatedly, for ride tickets…

Remember this?
“Skip the bother and skip the fuss! (BEEP-BEEP!) Take a Public Service Bus!”

“Public Service is really great they drop you right off at the gate!”
