Ok, CPRail modeler…Since nobody else has pointed it out to you, the COMMON BOND IS…(drum roll)… Model Railroading! Yes, that’s right, Model Railroading!
I left home tonight at 5:00 pm EDT thinking to myself, he can’t be serious, is he? But, when I arrived home and saw that nobody else pointed it out, I became compelled to expose the obvious. That’s why we all meet at this site. IT IS the common bond we all share.
As a fellow Model Railroader, I am obligated to help any other Model Railroader in any way I can. I expect this from all of my fellow Model Railroaders as well. afterall, isn’t that why we’re here? If not, then why are we here?
I apologize for trying to justify the fabric of our brotherhood, which is what I thought this is, A brotherhood.
Well, I think it is a bit hasty to say we don’t depend on each other, Dave. Some of us clearly do depend on others in this forum for, if nothing else, approbation or confirmation that what we describe or show in images seems to be working. Early on, I depended on rrinker quite a bit to help with long address programming. I can think of a couple dozen regulars who are often here asking for help or guidance of some kind.
I can’t say that I would have used the word “brotherhood” as it excludes the distaff [;)]. Even my oft-used term "fellowship’ hearkens back to times of yore (in other words, its an anachronism). Same for “fraternity”. So, what would we call like-mindedness in our mutual love and pursuit of modeling trains? The family is under attack these days, or so some would insist, so maybe that term is also of limited use. “Community” seems …bleechh! When I talk to my wife about you and the rest of the forum I just refer to you as my model railroad forum buds.
How about “comradeship”, or friendship? At least to the extent that we can all be friends here…even when we disagree about things? [:)]
