I just received my NMRA Scale Rails March edition. On the cover is Wolfgang’s little 25 ton switcher. Inside is an article by Wolgang on how he built the little locomotive.

Drat. When renewing NMRA membership in December, I elected to drop the magazine. Oh well, I can imagine what the cover looks like.

It is a nice piece of scratchbuilding. The issue also has a really interesting article, sort of theoretical but clearly written, about scaling down mass and inertia. It explains why videos of model trains somehow just don’t look like real trains.

I looked for the magazine last weekend, but I couldn’t find it at the store I was at.
