conventional locos using trainmaster

I have recently purchased a trainmaster in order to run my conventional engines. First question is can conventional engines be run with a cab1? If so how do you program the trainmaster to work with my existing cab1? There were no directions with the trainmaster other than hook up to the transformer. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

What is a “trainmaster”? I am familiar with the railroad management position known as “trainmaster”, and the Fairbanks-Morse locomotive called a “Trainmaster”. If it is a power supply, as your questions seem to imply, suggest you contact the manufacturer

Hi,

In order to run conventional locomotives by remote control from a CAB-1 you need to have a Lionel Powermaster. The Powermaster connects between the track and a standard transformer. The powermaster then receives the signal from the CAB-1 and adjusts the power to the track based on the CAB-1 throttle movements.

As always you can still control conventional locomotives from the standard transformer throttle.

I hope this answers your questions. Lionels website (www.lionel.com) includes includes additional information relative to this as well as the CoilCouplers site (www.coilcouplers.com).

Thanks Tim for the information. The coil coupler web site was a big help.
