Converting DCC locomotive to DC only

I have a BLI On30 2-8-0 Locomotive with Sound and DCC. I run on DC only and it takes way too much power to run it with the DCC module. Is it possible to remove the DCC & Sound Module and convert the locomotive to straight DC?

Disconnect the motor wires from the decoder and connect them straight through to the wheel pickups.

and the lights…

And finish the job by slinging that gizmo into the circular file.

Or, do the set-up procedure like we do, on top of a fencepost, and check the sights on the 30-.06.

Thanks for the replies. I had no idea it was that easy, but tonight I am going to find out. Maybe I’ll put the decoder on Ebay. People seem to buy anything there.

Be mindful that the lights are probably 1.5 volts. If they are, they’ll blow when that 12 - 16 volts of track power hits 'em. Put a resistor in line with the lights. If they’re 12 volts you can always take the resistor off.

Sell the entire loco on eBay and buy one of the non-sound versions.

The ‘lights’ are LEDs and should have a resistor in place already.

But said resistor may be on the board - which he is planning on removing.

The electronics are adaptable to other locomotives, and if you do not damage anything in the process, it should bring your over $50- A purchaser can get the V7 upgrade chip of his/her choosing to install the board in any model.
