Hello all,
My math is weak. How do I convert feet and inches to HO scale for scratch building towers and buildings? Does anyone have a clear formula.
Thanks,
Terry Hall

Terry,
The easiest method is to simply divide by 87. Of course, if you want more precise measurements, you might want to consider investing a few dollars in a scale ruler, such as this one.
Good luck! [:)]
The easiest way is to buy a scale rule at a hobby shop for HO. Just use the real measurement of say 8’ and read off 8’ on the scale. that way there is no conversion. If you really want to convert divide the measurement by 87. So an 8’ measurement in real life = 8/87 = .009’. .009’ x 12" = 1.103". at that point it is probably easiest to use a decimal to fraction conversion chart to determine the length. Sure you really want to do it this way?
Convert feet to inches and devide by 87. HO is 1/87 scale.
Take the prototype measurement and convert it by multiplying by .0115. Example 50 feet X .0115 = .575 feet or 6.9 inches.
