Correct color for Durango & Silverton Cars?

Can someone tell me the correct paint (brand & color) to use on the Durango & Silverton cars? I’ve looked at several colors including Model Flex DRGW Gold & Poly S DRGW Yellow but they all seem a little too orange to me. Also what about the roof? Is it gray or aluminum? What paint do I use for that? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I have a wonderful video of the Durango and Silverton Narrow Gage Railway. At least as far as the car roofs are concerned in the video they appear to be an aluminum or silver color. I would paint the roofs silver and weather with some black weathering powders for soot. I would think a Union Pacific Yellow would capture the yellow used on the cars.

You’re looking for what is called “Aspen gold” on the Rio Grande. Here’s a helpful link, although not in color:

Mike,

Thanks a lot for the useful information. I was able to determine that the color I want is called “Aspen Gold.” I did a search on eBay and was able to buy some DRGW Aspen Gold that looks perfect. It is called Tru Color and is solvent based and airbrush ready. Thanks again.
