I am a beginner, just starting a layout in N scale. I want to model 1950 on the Cotton Belt. I do not yet have the skills to repaint locomotives, but want a VO-1000 with the early paint scheme. I also have an FT A/B set, but it is in the “Black Widow” scheme and I need the original daylight colors. I need recommendations. Are there reliable, skilled people who provide this service? If not, where do I start in acquiring these skills?
The Cotton Belt FTs were never in Daylight colors.They were originally in a grey and yellow scheme.The all color book,“Coton Belt Pictorial”,published by Four Ways West,has a photo of a Baldwin transfer loco in this scheme.
You might want to get a copy of Joe Strapac’s “Cotton Belt Locomotives”. It may be out of print, however and you might have to see if you can get a second-hand copy.
It’s a good resource for a Cotton Belt modeler.
