Good on you, MisterBeasley- there should be more of the Peter Pan in all of us. Being grown up is such a pain. If I had known as a kid what it was going to be like as an adult I would have stayed at being seven for the rest of my life.[:D]

Good point. However, they used their prototype equipment to build excitement to the very end. It is still a good way of marketing.
Sometimes I think a bunch of kids could do a better job of running Amtrak.

I think it’s right on target. Amtrak ridership has been increasing every year for the past several years, as driving and flying become increasing hassles. And with an Amtrak-friendly administration now in Washington (Amtrak got some stimulus funds and funding is way up in the new budget), I think the train truly has “arrived.”
Now, I want my Amtrak service back in Ocala, Florida!

No I didn’t really mean it. I was being humorous. Amtrak has always had some great commercials in the past and present. Their print advertisements are great too. I wish they would run more of those ads on the mainstream media as the Oxi-Clean and FreeCreditReport.com.
I am finally glad we have an administration who is Amtrak-friendly. It is about time. Our country’s transportation infrastructure has been needing some much TLC for about ten years.
That is why I am starting early.
Maybe, but they might run over a motorist at a crossing or tip the train so far on curves. Wait! I’m a kid. Check that. I CAN run Amtrak better.

To be honest I don’t think they would have wanted me running amtrak as a kid. I would have probably ordered flames painted on all the locomotives along with jet boosters to make them go 500 miles an hour.
Also I would have probably given it a really dumb `80s kid sounding name like Radical Express or Gnarly Dude Railroad.
GDR huh. Sounds about right. With all the problems with planes crashing lately though I wouldn’t be suprised if things like Amtrac suddenly saw a small spike usage. I mean it has been decades since they hade the derailing problems, and the way I remember it quite a bit of them wasn’t really their fault. I do recall something about people doing stuff to the rails so the trains would derail. Who knows maybe it was the airline industry trying to scare people into flying. Maybe now the rail industry is doing the same. Or maybe I’m just listening to that little voice in my head that says everything is a conspiracy too much. Oh shush you. Hey, no, no. Bad little voice. Well, Amtrak has made some improvements when it comes to on-time service, but it is still pretty bad…and expensive, too.
Why in the world did a railroad commercial use the sound of a steam whistle when the diesel model passed by the camera? You think they’d get that right.
I grew up in the '90s and I would have put loud speakers on the outside of the trains if I was in charge of Amtrak. The speakers would play the song C’mon 'N Ride It (The Train) by the Quad City DJs. That wouldn’t be a good idea at night though[:D] It would make a good advertisement jingle though.
