I have a Life Like GP 9 and I’m wondering how to swith the basic couplers to the right magnetic couplers.

Go to the Kadee website and pick out the engine from the list. IT will tell you exactly which one to use. Unscrew the coupler pocket lid and drop it in. the sc rew the lid back on. And don’t ever let anybody tell you something is as good as a Kadee. Particulary on an engine where it takes the most force.
