Coupling N scale Gunderson MAXI I Double Stacks

I am having a terrible time trying to couple the N scale Gunderson MAXI I articulated stack cars. It appears the articulation joints must be in a certain order as there is a notch in the middle of the top of one side but not the other. I have the cars aligned in the correct A-E order and have all but one spot left to couple, but it simply will not go. I have seen a YouTube video showing how it should be done, but this simply does not work at this one spot. It also mentions a 3-2-1-2-3 order on the box, but I don’t know what this means.

It would help a lot,if you would mention,who made them,Walthers,Athearn,Atlas,A-Line,they have all made them and they do not all work the same way…

Thanks, for saying who made them and the video,I watched the first 8 seconds of it,and the phrase that stuck out was,read the directions on the bottom of the box…

I’m in HO only,but was just curious as to the OPs questions…
