That’s the same loco that I took the pictures of this weekend here in the Coquitlam/Abbotsford CP right-of-way area.
I posted them in a thread - titled something about train hunting.
It’s a beauty of a locomotive - I do recommend going out to see it if it’s in your area.
(Not as nice as her sister the 2860 - but when it comes to steam you take what you can get, right? [:)] )
Any idea as to when and where?
I’m going to make that trip to the Grand Excursion if it’s the last thing I do!!!
More info on CPR#2816 The train is supposed to arrive in Chgo.on the June14th and depart from Bensenville yard on June 16th for Milwaukee.
Anyone got the schedule yet? I havent found anything about 2816 coming to Chicago. Where did you find this info?
Here is the schedule that I have. It is from Railroadforums.com The entire post includes the Luxury Excursion train across Canada. I just took out the US part. Notice that the Norfolk Southern is going to run diesels ahead of the steam engine.

2816 will remain in Montreal from May 29th until June 11th , and will operate to Toronto on June 11th. (Using the consist listed above): 2816 will haul Stage Car 401753, to Business Car “Lacombe” only for a total of seven cars. On June 12th the train will operate from Toronto to Welland, and on June 13th from Welland to Buffalo via CSXT and from Buffalo to Cleveland via NORFOLK SOUTHERN, with an NS diesel leading while on all NS trackage stateside. On June 14th the train will continue from Cleveland to Chicago via NS and will remain in Chicago on June 15th. On June 16th, it will operate from Chicago to Milwaukee via Portage and then it is expected to operate a number of small excursions on the SOO LINE up until July 4th. MILWAUKEE ROAD 4-8-4 #261 will be operating in the same vicinity on CP from June 22nd to July 4th, and on July 3rd the locomotives are expected to be double-headed!
SInce they are so close why don’t they run it on the ex D&H as well?
