CP asks rail regulator to bless merger structure by May 6
I hope when the STB says this won’t be approved, that is the end of this ridiculous idea. But for some reason I really don’t think it will be.
I bet they could rule on this today already. No doubt they’ve all been talking about this for a while.
EHH is asking the STB to issue their ruling 9 weeks after receiving EHH’s petition. I don’t think that is enough time, especially if the STB asks for public comments before ruling.
So Mr Harrison is trying to leaving CP for NS.
The major opposition to the CP-NS merger is coming from within NS. If Hunter Harrison believes the STB would not be an obstacle to the merger, this trust proposal would allow him to get in the door at NS and dismantle the opposition.
The nice words about making NS “the very best railroad” sound a bit too sweet, like Grandma talking to Hansel and Gretel.
Hopefully the STB will turn down this proposal.

Way back at the beginning of this, NS said if CP was serious, they’d seek a declaratory order. CP said it was a waste of time - not needed. Now, they are in a rush to get it. Great execution of well thought out plan, huh?
So, it would be perfectly okay with everyone if EHH and other abandoned ship at CP for NS, and if the merger was not allowed, that would be just fine with CP?
Looks like his goal is just to take the helm at NS. He doesn’t care if CP merger ultimately goes through. He just wants to jump from the sinking ship to sink another.

By the way, if HH is the " Einstein of Railroading ", that’s only the opinion of a hand-full of people !!!
I wa wondering how much money EHH lost when he broke his retirement package with CN ? Is he trying to recoup his losses with this deal ? Something is amiss here and is just not apparent. He accuses the other top three Class 1’s of meddling and complains. And now he wants to be appointed CEO of NS ? What is so special about him? I am 64 years old and just don’t get it quite frankly.
And when will Hillbilly Harrison acknowledge that, as a Canadian company, CP needs the permission of the Canadian government to proceed?
Looking at a recent report on CP in Canada they just had a record revenue of 6.71 billion and a record profit of 1.35 billion yet the investors said it is not good enough so they will be eliminating another 1,100 workers. They don’t look for more customers but instead just eliminate more workers while running fewer and longer trains. The b=ubble will burst some where , some how soon.
HH is sooo full of Crap, they should give him a boxcar full of DEPENDS !!
