CPAA 211172 ? and DW boxcar end ladders...

I have a 50’ excess height high cube boxcar CPAA211172…

Anyone have any idea who would have made this car please?

Thing is that it’s got lots of nice holes for side grab irons… but no grab irons… so I’m wondering if I will be able to get any…

The other question is whether anyone knows a reliable means of getting Details West ladders to stay stuck to the car?

Thanks

I’m going to guess that it’s Athearn’s model of a Pullman-Standard 5344 cuft. car with the rounded roof edges?

Just FYI it’s not a “high-cube” car. Here’s a prototype from the same number series:

That’s the car [tup]

[%-)] What would make it a hi cube please?

Also can you tell me what the rusty plates at the top of the sides are? They look like strengthening plates? Was this coomon on this design?

Thanks

Should I be able to get the grab rails from Athearn?

Thanks

High-cube really means “high cubic capacity”. Think Excess Height Plate F cars. This car is a standard Plate C 50’ car of average cubic capacity. It’s not excess height.

The plates are vents. They’re a custom modification. These cars are used in baled pulp service.
