CRC Electrical Cleaner

Where can I find it. I have tried Wal-Mart with no luck. Any other place like Lowes or Home Depot?

Thanks in advance.

Have you tried auto parts stores?

You won’t find it at Walmart because it doen’t come from China. Which CRC product do you want? I think they are up to 8-86 now. Do you want something like a tuner cleaner/ degreaser or a cleaner/lubricant? Electronic suppliers or Radio Shack might have them as well as electrical supply houses might also.

I buy my CRC 2-26 at Home Depot, you might also try ACE Hardware.

I get my CRC 2-26 from Lowe’s.

Got mine at Home Depot recently. The store help didn’t know what I was talking about. I found it in the electrical department.

What he said!

Has anyone noticed the CRC in the red can leaves a sticky film?? (NOT the 2-26, but the plain red can cleaner)

CRC 2-26 is a lubricant/ moisture repellent. Why not just use WD-40

Because WD-40 is a solvent, not a lubricant. It is also extremely flammable. CRC 2-26 is a lubricant specially made for use in live electrical applications.

A reasonable question …

Different type of product and FAR better quality (CRC is professional grade). I have used many CRC products in my business. Used to buy 5-56 by the gallon at auto parts store and 2-26 by the case from my electronics supplier.

Karl

I am wondering what you people use it for. I have a can of the stuff (blue) in the basement that I bought several years back for a different project. I would never let it get anywhere near my layout, or operating equipment. It attacks plastic! I wound up throwing away an otherwise perfectly good computer keyboard because of it. [banghead]

Or is there a plastic compatible version of said product?

I used to get CRC 2-26 at work and used it only as a moisture repelant for signal equipment that had been in a flood or otherwise underwater. We never used it on live circuits and never put it on contacts as it would burn and cause pitting on these contacts if it wasn’t completly removed. It does attack paint as i have an old loco with my fingerprints in the paint on the shell.
