Two engines and several cars derailed in the CSX Avon yard. See attached story.
Not obvious how this occurred. Were they trying to couple up to a cut of cars or did the track fail under a car?
Tom Mack said on Loconotes that this is more severe than the media are describing; one of the units (SD40-2s converted from '40s) has a bent frame.
This says that a 112 car string of cars ran away and struck an train arriving from Cleveland. Both crewmen in Hospital. One had to be pulled from cab.

My memory says there have been a number of runaway incidents in and around Avon in recent years. Supervision is not getting through to the work force about securing equipment.
That runaway was in 2008. Word on the street was that it wasn’t the fault of a craft employee.
My Bad. Sorry. Missed the year. Sounded like the same thing.
On the Indiana Railroads Bull Session list there is talk of this one involving a radio controlled locomotive and having to do with a weakness in the way the rules worked for the circumstances.
