CSX Logo

Is CSX going to change there Logo just like BNSF did or are they going to keep it the same.

You’ll have to ask the marketing department.

Even though we grouse about railroads being invisible to the public, they still have an image to maintain. Change it too often and your target audience loses track of who’s who.

IIRC, the BNSF change coincided with a corporate name change. Even though the reporting marks stayed BNSF, the name went from Burlington Northern Santa Fe to BNSF. CSX has made no similar change.

I could be wrong, though.

they already have…sorta…

the new “logo” in my oppion is the csx letters in the brakets [csx] with the dots under it to look like wheels on a box car…

But BNSF was truncating their name to what everybody already called them. It’s not like CSX was named Chessie Seaboard And All Others. It was CSX to begin with, so I don’t see why they’d waste any time with a change like that.

if you check out the csx main websight you will what im talking about

http://csxt.com/

also take a look at the online…tv…and print ads from the websight…

when the marketing campaing came out…i recieved information about it in the mail from carrier… stateing that it was trying to “establish csx as a brand and along with the TV and print ads it was about to run was unvailing its new marketing logo to the public”

it has already shown up on some of the shipping containers… dont know if its going to show up on any fresh painted rolling stock or locomotives yet…but never know…

csx engineer

oh yea…something i forgot to add… if you are going to view the ads… you are going to have to us internet explorer… they dont work with firefox…and dont know about others such as netscape…

Saw that logo on the posts about the ads, I assume it’s not the official new logo? I thought it was just for effect in the TV spots.

Interesting variation on the theme. Still using the same serif type style for CSX, but with the additional dressing of the “car”. Nice touch.

i dont know what counts as an official logo…but everything i get mailed to my house from the carrier as far as proganda letters and any employee information they send me has it on it… all the posters around the offices have it on it… its now showing up on shipping containers… its all over the company home page…so yea…i would venter to say its the offical logo now… im looking at a fridg. magnet they sent me when they where about to unvail this new marketing campain and it has this logo on it and has a trade mark TM so yea…i am thinking its the new logo…just a matter of time befor it shows up on power and rolling stock i think… like i said above…its already showing up on shipping conatiners…

just looked at the website:

First the word cute is in order, what was to be the imitation of a rail car is just two brackets and four dots under it,

Second They could have done better

Third: Fire the advertising agency - They surely must have known better

My 2 cents

PL

Better yet,

just change the name to "Seaboard Coast Line" ! [(-D][(-D][;)]

Expect a fight from those who would prefer “Chesapeake & Ohio”[swg]

Along that same line:

How about Chesapeake Seaboard Ohio and Coastline or

C-SOC for short???

PL

Or CSX for even shorter?

I wonder if this new look has anything at all to do with the more active role of that hedge fund?

And all this time we in the west thought it stood for California Sex eXchange.

C & O still works for me. I grew up around the Russell Yard and Raceland Car Shops.

I always liked Chesapeake & Ohio. (and Chessie, one of my cats had her name.)(middle)

If it has to change to something else; lets give “Chessie” a chance.

While it’s not a total C & O or Chessie logo; maybe this one would work.

It shall be the one and only ATLANTIC COAST LINE RAILROAD COMPANY. There, case is settled. I has spoken. Nuff sed.

the marketing campain started befor the share holder meeting to vote to add hedge fund members to the board… but it could have been an attment to get the csx name out there more to the people that have csx stock through IRAs and 401ks but dont realy know what the company is or dose…

Having been thru a few rebranding programs, these generally work as follows…typically a new CEO will want to have a “new look”. Ad agencies develop the “new look” and it is rolled out, complete with a very large Corporate Identification Manual which covers about everything the brand is applied to from envelopes to websites to signage and company assets (in this case locomotives, vehicles, and fleet).

The easy stuff such as envelopes and website, business cards, etc are done really quick along with a photo op asset, such as a locomotive and a couple of cars.

The further away from Jacksonville, the less important it is to convert to the new brand, unless the suits are coming in for an inspection, then it gets done. My guess is that business cards, signage, etc in Grand Rapids will be down on the list of importance.

New equipment will receive the new branding, older equipment as it is refurbished and repainted. Consumer companies will often rebrand all equipment within a very short period of time, for instance we handled over 1500 vehicles for a major retailer and several thousand for a major communications company. Conference calls were scheduled weekly to track the progress.
