Looks like 15 not counting Chessie, Seaboard/Family Lines and B&O repaints.
Wow i didn’t know it was that many
and yes i meant from Chessie forward
Don’t forget this highly attractive paint scheme… Shot in 1991, well into the CSX Era, and wearing a CSX number (formerly WM 3798).
She was retired a year later wearing her original colors, so I would say that counts!

The YN2 scheme “Bright Future” scheme (Blue, Gray, Yellow slant on the nose) to me will always be my favorite as well as its variant with the lightning bolts. Some of you may have remembered the big publicity fanfare that the Bright Futures paint scheme generated.
I’m not too crazy about the curent paint scheme, but I admit that it does look decent. [;)]
One of the reasons I was willing to model a contemporary railroad was the YN2 Bright Future scheme, which I thought was highly attractive. I had been modeling pre-Chessie B&O, but the dark blue diesels with deep yellow trim were not very photogenic (IMHO). Needless to say, I was quite disappointed when I started seeing those solid-blue YN3 units. For that reason, I will never model anything past the year 2001.
I see Polly Scale has the YN3 blue/gold colors now.[tup]
My favorite was the BC2 scheme. I really like the black outline on the yellow CSX logo.
It’s the early '90s for me !
There was all sorts of variety.
I was in Worcester, MA today picking up a friend off the Commuter Rail from Boston, and he said that there was one of the solid gray with yellow nose GP40s just East of the yard. That was one of the schemes before the YN2. I thought all the CSX locos were YN3 and YN2. Today I also saw a regular-cab C40-8 in YN2, which is pretty rare nowadays. It makes a nice change from the ES44DCs and SD70Ms that are so common on CSX.
In some of my recent outings, I’ve see quite a few of the pre-YN2 jobs, particularly on slug and mother sets.
I shot this one in Hagerstown two, maybe three years ago.

Railroads are changing their paint schemes so often, it’s hard to keep up!
