CSX S&W sub still going strong. (pictures added regularly)

Some of you may remember my “New layout underway” thread. Ive been trying to find that to post on for a couple of weeks, but I well… lost it. Anyway its not really my “new” layout now that its been half a year. At this point I have all of the mainline trackage down. The yards are started, about half the roadbed in the yards is laid and a little bit of track. And Im working on carving out the first mountain which will go in one corner behind the mains. And now that I can run trains, here’s some pictures of em’[:D]

Here my new BLI AC6000 works with three SD70MACs to lug a big coal train up the grade out of southcross. Gotta love the beautiful fields of giant tools almost ready for harvest[:p]

The Soutcross and Western MOW train heads off to a small problem on the westbound main.

Heres a closeup of the BLI AC6000. The best part is, it sounds even better than it looks.

Any questions, comments, ideas and criticizm are welcomed and encouraged.

[tup]CSX!

Yeah, CSX is the main frieght carrier. Along with that you have some local Southcross and Western trains and dont forget the occasional UP or NS. And on a layout like this you have to have some amtrak running around!

Looking good so far! [tup] Keep it up, and keep posting pics of the progress.

I really like that big GE! [:D]

A CSX mixed freight barrels down the grade under heavy braking (function 7 on the AC6000 is a cool brake effect)

This is the begginings of Southcross yard. Here are the partially finished arrival/departure tracks… Alas, Im out of flextrack[:(!]

CSX #682 aided by a leased EMD demo unit pulls a long mixed freight under the eastbound main.

I really enjoyed it Because CSX rulez…

Very nice, I enjoy all of these expert layouts, It will help me when I build my own.

Thank you very much accord. But I hardly consider myself an expert. I’ve only been doing this for a little over 5 years. The people I would call experts are people like Joe Fugate. He’s not the only one on the forum but Im just using him as an example

JPM335,

The layout is looking great…keep the pictures coming. Also, how does you sound-equipped AC6000CW run with your non-sound loco’s?

Thanks,
Sean

Sean,

The AC6000 runs fine with almost all of my other engines. Plus one of the great things about DCC is that you can adjust individual speed steps and make any locomotives run perfectly together.

What kind of power to the Broadway AC6000s have? Are they Kato/ Athearn Genesis like in power or stronger like Proto 2000?

What scale is that? I can’t tell from the pictures[D)]. That looks to be O or HO to me. Anyway I like it. Especially the big unit coal!

Junctionfan-

The AC6000 and the proto are comperable in pulling power… Awesome! Each one will pull almost 100 free rolling cars on level track. The Genesis SD70MACs are a bit lighter than they could be and can only handle 50-70 cars. Of course I run all these powerfull units in consist because of the steep grades (2.5) On the mainline.

DrummingTrainfan-

This is HO scale. If I had enough room to do this in O scale, I wouldnt. I would do twice as much in HO[:D]

Pretty soon Ill have more layout progress, I promise[:D] Just gotta order more flextrack
anyway, for now heres some more trains.

It looks like the cab of the 70MAC would fit right into the rear of the AC6000. Kinda like the panagea of locomotives.

Those darn railroad police are asleep on the job…
(camera focused on the blinds but you get the idea)

Due to a severe power shortage, some old SP units are seeing time on helper duty

OK, I finnally did something![:D] Over the last week I have made a lot of progress on southcross yard. It’s nowhere near done as there is still another ladder to build after I fini***his one, but now I can do some switching[8D]

Southcross is booming! There is so much rail demand they cant even wait until the yard is finished to start running loads through it.

What I have built so far will hold about 50 cars. It will get about twice as big as it is, but I will probably keep the car count around 50 in this yard. I hate overcrowding.
