The website The Bullsheet provided outstanding info on CSX train symbols, but unfortunately is no longer updated. Northeast Train Symbols provides not ony CSX but NS, CN, and CP, but doesnt really go into the detail that Bullsheet did.
Ok, here is my question. This weekend CSX has run unusual train symbols - R100 and R101 yesterday and today an X170 ran. The Q170 is a new Chicago - North Baltimore intermodal. Why would there be an X (extra)? Why not a S (Second section)?
Also, the R used to denote a reroute. But with the new symbols, there are no longer Q100 and Q101 trains (at least not listed).
Does the holiday weekend have anything to do with these symbols?
