Did you ever just have one of those days? [banghead] [sigh]

Joe:

I find listening to Fostoria Live is really entertaining. What a hot spot.

That 2nd trick operator at F Tower is pretty sharp.

Joe:

What is going on at Fostoria? It sounded like a mess last night and also this morning. Dispatcher just reported to a couple of trains a broken rail. Anything else happening unusual or is it just cold weather railroading?

Ed

hard to say. I work 3rd so im not sure. If I find out I’ll let ya know.Csx has been running track inspections constantly on the garrett sub and placing speed restrictions on sections of track as well.they call it a cold weather alert.

Thanks to this post I got on the Fostoria live RR radio channel. Sometime I’ll have get out there, sounds extremely busy. Bob

Isnt that a great web feature? I listen to it as much as the local scanner here. It really gets hectic with both scanners at once. I went as far a purchased CSX employee timetables so I could get the control points, etc. info.

You have got that right.[#ditto][#ditto] Funny how Conrail didn’t have [censored][censored] problem when it got cold and snowy around here. To repeat-CSX track maintainers are working shorthanded, and CSX won’t hire new track maintainers to help rectify the situation. BTW when it gets up to 90 the first time this late spring or summer, the same [censored] manpower problems will be back. At least the problems are limited to the daylight hours, then.[#oops]

You need to come down and watch the Fitzgerald Sub. here in Georgia for a day or two. Traffic jams are a daily occurrence due primarily from trying to squeeze 40-50 trains a day on a predominantly single-track 200 mile mainline. Most entertaining! (it’s my understanding that the dispatcher’s desk for this subdivision is the mosted hated of all in Jacksonville with an increasingly high turnover rate…an aspirin isn’t gonna cut it on this desk!)

Where does the Fitzgerald Sub run between?

ed

I agree. What rail line, sub begins and ends where, and what region of GA?

Inquiring minds, etc.

It runs from Manchester, Ga to Waycross, Ga (about 201 miles) (South/ Southeast). I have been to both and it is indeed an impressive show. At Manchester, there is a crew change spot and a medium sized yard. There are usually 2-4 trains always waiting there. It is the old ABC line that splits North to Atlanta and Birmingham. [tup]
