Looks like our spell checker does not like ‘runby’!

A photo ruby will also be held at the tunnel. RUBY?

That makes me wish I knew something about geology.

Regarding Steve Dinning’s comment, I guess that proves again that we can read gibberish as long as the first and last letters are correct and the correct number of syllables! I read “runby” and didn’t notice the missing “n”.

As for knowing nothing about Geology, it looks like anyone can ride… Quite the opportunity.

Yes, each guest will recieve a photo of a Ruby at the tunnel, it was perfectly clear to me.

This should be interesting for all who are able to take advantage of the event. It will be educational and informative. Great!!! Possibly this will stimulate additional riders for the C&TS and hence more revenue. I suggest that it be advertised in geology related publications and also in the Nat’l Geographic.

The C&TS may be on to something here. Expand the scope of railroad museums and advertise to anybody interested in studying the surrounding land. If they can make some money off geologists, amateur or professional, then go for it.

How about this? Excursion train for metalurgists and civil engineers to study the bridges, alignment of the right of way, and whatever else is of interest.

The first of these geology trains was in 2011; my wife and I were on it; it was truly great; neither of us are geologists, although I am a “rock nut”, as well as a “train nut.” We may just do it again. The traveling geologists put their commentaries in layman’s terms so they were easy to follow, and they were really nice folks who tried to answer every one of my huge number of questions. There was an “official” geologist on every car so all revenue passengers had one nearby. And going slowly with explanations and all the stopping to collect rocks, or even just to get down to inspect the tracks/cuts/tunnels/whatever was a super opportunity. I have only one recommendation: GO!!!
