I bought two brass models from Dans- a Southern F1 4-6-0($500.00) and a Southern Ms4 2-8-2($550.00). I mailed a money order. Evidently, the USPS was asleep that day/s and the money hadn’t arrived a week later. Three more days went by and still no M.O. Dan sent the models anyway! The money order finally arrived four days after that. Every time I have ever had to deal with thdse guys, they have gone out of their way to make it a good experience! Their prices are sometimes downright amazing! Another Good Guy in the brass market: Steve at Gunnings Hobbies in San Anselmo, CA
Always have had great dealings with them. Quick shippers. Have answered any questions I have had. Highly recommended by me. You should have no problem with them. Excellent ebayer. PW
I would also recommend Dan’s Train Depot, I have bought a number of items from there.
As a cross border shopper I am pleased that he is not trying to make extra money on the S&H of items being sent to Canada.
I am amazed at how quickly his stock turns over. I never, never shop for any item without first checking Dan’s Train Depot.
I’ve not bought anthing recently from Dan’s Train Depot.
I do recall being statisfied with items I purchsed from him on Ebay.
Also, I visited his store when he was in Ocala, and it certainly was worth the time. The clerk in the store said the store would be moving east of Ocals, and I think it was Silver Springs.
If you are in central Floida, I suggest going there!
He had a great selection of used HO at very reasonable prices when I was there. .
Ah, my absolute favorite locomotive. I have mine painted for the 949. It was primarily based out of Selma, Al. where my Dad was the fireman on it in 1934-1939. I painted it as my Dad described the painting on it. After that time, he joined the Army, was badly wounded in Tunisia, and never went back to the RR. Here’s a pic of mine.
hey cuda how about postin some pics of those
or sending me pics im a mopar guy too
I ordered two items from Dan’s and never had any problems, I give them 5 stars. Earl…
This is one thread I will really enjoy commenting on. I met Dan in '03. We partnered on a rather large estate purchase, and things went quite well for both of us. Two years later I decided to sell my brass business and collection which was then called the ******. The word sort of got out and I had some sustantial offers including an offer from Dan. He was in his late 20’s then, but posessed an “old world” sense of both personal and business ethics that I thought died out generations ago. For me it was a no-brainer to sell to him even though one offer was higher. There were no lawyers involved in the transaction, only a handshake and the bottom line was that all went extremely well for both of us. I can not think of a finer young man to do business with. Dan has what is needed to be successful in any business…thorough knowledge and belief in his products in addition to loving what he is doing. He knows customer service and will stand behind anything he sells.
In a very short time, he has learned much in addition to what he already knew about brass models. His book on brass models and price guides are excellent… Still Dan will ask questions about specific items , even though today he has established himself as one of the formost experts in this field.
I’m impressed!
