Darth Vadar Part 2

I was in Kroger early (very early) Saturday morning. I noticed they were selling books, best sellers of course. One of the books had a VERY EVIL black face on it. I glanced at it quickly as I walked by but did not pick it up.

Now I can’t remember who wrote the book or even the title. Has anyone else seen this book? I would bet the answer to that one is, “Yes.”

So what is the title of the book and who wrote it? I don’t think I want to read it. But has anyone read it?

Well as usual, I forgot to say something that I intended to say. [B)] [V]

The “face” is on a steam locomotive. It of course is a very evil face with “red” showing for lights.

This might help get an answer to my questions.

It’s okay Jim. Just go home, lie down and relax. Maybe take one of those pills tha doc said would mke you feel better …and try to stay away from sharp objects.

And be careful, you’re starting to sound like someone who shall remain … Mookie.

Is it possible this is one of the Stephen King Dark Tower books? One edition (I think it was of Book IV) has a locomotive with a death’s-head mask on the front (although the locomotive in the book, ‘Choo-Choo Charlie’ (a “402 Big Boy locomotive” but don’t scoff before reading some more), bears very little resemblance to the loco design used to create the cover – for some reason I remember this as one of the D&RGW narrow-gauge engines)

Hissssss.

Jhh,

Unfortunately, stuff like this has become common. I’ve seen trains uses over and over for this kind of stuff. While some people may enjoy dark or evil based novels, many people actually don’t enjoy or get entertained by it (myself included) while some do read it. hollywood sure doesn’t help much, does it?

So many of us have different ideas of what entertainment is and have the freedom to pursue it. My attitude has always been, that if it doesn’t leave you with a good feeling, or help your mind grow “Don’t feed your mind with it,” even if it seems well written and creative. I may get “bashed” for my following comment but as a teacher so many of the “well to do” middle and upper class young people that I see and talk to that are often depressed, angry and feel isolated eat these novels constantly. In turn, they become desensitized to horrific scenes, crimes, and actions. (Remember Columbine?) You try and talk to their parents in a helpful manner, and out come the defensive claws or “Well, he just won’t listen to me”. ( I so often want to blurt out loud: "Who is the parent?! Who is in charge?!)

Years ago one of my beloved relatives got into frequent reading of Stephen King and other dark novels as well as dark comics that included blood and gore. I did read the dark comics for a while and stopped cold turkey. As she continued digesting this stuff, I noticed her change and become depressed quite often. Her arguments involved shouting matches. Instead of preaching at her, I learned to listen and be there for her. After more than a decade she stopped. Her outlook and demenor changed quickly when she asked me how was it that me and my family seemed to be doing “o.k” even though we weren’t “loaded with money”. I continued to encourage her and try to lead by example and showed her that by no means were we perfect! To this day she, her husband and kids as well as my family get along so well now.

Again, the timeless saying

I know and understand where you are coming from with this however, I really doubt everyone does. [:(] But you are right. I do not buy this sort of book and do not watch that sort of movie. I have watched a few of those movies but there is really nothing good to come out of them.

I do read a lot of railroad books, train magazines (Trains and Modeler Railroader), and watch railroad videos. None of these leaves me depressed (except for the fact that I can’t afford a nice large DCC controlled model railroad or the real thing either [;)] )

Keeping one’s mind out of the gutter can be hard at times but reading railroad books is much better than reading “dark” novels. As for me and my house, well no “dark” novels.

Did this evil engine have “New Jersey Transit” on the tender?
Seriously ,though, I tend to stay away from the "dark " novels and movies.

L O L.

Pretty Funny.

OK, the book is, The Waste Lands

I had copied a link (or I thought I copied a link) to show the front cover but seem to have “lost” the link. [:(!]

There apearantely is more one one book with a steam loco face. None of these do I wi***o actually see on the rails.

Was the train number 666?

here you go…

That is it . . . but it is the engine in the upper left corner. The one that is enlarged must be another one in that series because that is not the one I saw.

Must be a new engine for Thomas the Tank Engine Halloween special; Beelzebub the Big Boy.[:D]

Was it this?

" Oh my!, Beez! " said Thomas "Sir Topham Hat is going to very angry with you for knocking all those cars off the crossing!, How am I going to get all this blood off my lovely paint? " frowned Thomas.[:0]

It looks like Stephen King took his story “Maximum Overdrive”, and put it on rails [:p]

Take care,

Russell

dont know if you ever saw the movie …

GAWD AWEFULL MOVIE, one of the Worst Steaming Piles of **** ever dropped out of Hollywoods bottom![xx(]

Yes I did, and agree the movie was bad. Best thing was AC/DC on the soundtrack.
The gremlin truck in the movie came to mind when I saw the Waste Lands book cover.

Take care,

Russell

Was that the one with the trucker chasing the salesman?
