I have several Bachmann locos. 2-8-0’s and 4-8-2’s using Soundtraxx decoders. While they operate well, the tender trucks loosen and cause sporadic operation. Does anyone have a solution for this? It is annoying to say the least and causes considerable downtime.
If I were going to use CA, as suggested by Nigel, I would use the jelled type so it doesn’t accidentally run down the bolt and glue the truck to the bottom of the tender. If you can locate some Locktite at an auto parts or hardware store, that might be a better choice because it can be removed in the future if you ever need to remove a truck. With CA, you would probably have to cut the bolt and replace it.
My first thoght was the same as cacole’s, Locktight from your local auto parts store. However, it would be difficult to remove the screws if you ever needed to.
If you can get to the back of the threads and the screw protrudes put a “dot” of paint on the screw threads.
A small dab of generic super glue (just a drop applied from the tip of a pin) on the screwhead/casing will hold it forever, but if you ever need to remove it, that very small amout will break free with a little pressure. It’s a little trick I use on my eyeglasses, dern screws kept falling out.
