DCC Help needed !

I have a Digitrax Zephyr. Today I was running a train with a consist of three Kato SD 40 units. I noticed that the train had slowed. I then took a closer look and noticed that one unit had slowed dramatically and the another had stopped completely. Whan I tried to MU the consist again, they would not. I then tried to reset the factory default cv to eight but they would not reset. I then checked other cv’s and the zephyr would not read them or they would read 255 on most all cv’s. The other unit running in the lead with the same type of decoder (DH163KO) was not effected and runs fine. I had extra decoders and installed them and again it would read cv’s but they were all at 255 nor could I reset them. Later, I was running a consist of Proto SD 60’s and again one of the units stopped completely. However, I was able to MU the consist again and was able to read all cv’s and continue running. I have had this system for about eight months and I have never had this problem before. Does anyone have any idea what may have happended?

Do a reset of the Zephyr (cv39) and this will clear the command station.

This will bring the unit back to factory defaults.

You can then remake the consists and all should be well.

A lot of modelers forget about resetting the command station when a series of things go wrong with the system. Doing a reset usually corrects most faults. If it doesn’t then the command station needs a trip to Digitrax for service.

It is just like the home computer getting a glitch. Reboot and usually it is OK!
