Well one thing for sure, so it seems, is that Lionel proper is not going to let the K-Lionel product line interfere with everything else. I’ve noticed a number of shipping delays on the K-Line by Lionel products. The S-2 switcher was originally slated for May delivery, then October, then November and now December. Outside of a scant few items already shipped, most items from the first catalog are now either November or December shipping. The 2007 Vol. 2 items are mostly right now slated for March 2008… (maybe?)
I personally find the current new K-Line by Lionel catalogs far more appealing than anything offered by the orginal K-Line company in their past few years. Lionel may be running K-Line, but the emphasis and priorities are absolutely on the Lionel cataloged products. Harry Potter was introduced in Volume 2 and is now on the way… though no doubt it was in development/planning long before.
I know I’d ordered two of the K-Line superstreets sets - one to review and one to give as a Christmas present and they’re pushed back to March. Well, guess I can hold the gift till next Christmas.
well they really need this one to it the market before Christmas and the soon release of the latest movie on DVD.
As for the K-line line it’s sad that a lot of their item have been pushed back or even dropped, I hope the one who have been push back are for good reason (improvement) and not just for lack of interest.
So who gonna post the first pics of their own Hogwart Express?
I have had a US Army 2 pack 15" Heavywieght Passanger Cars on order since the Volume 1 catalog came out. Now the date is November 07, hopefully they will arrive in time for my train clubs November/December open house.
I also have a Harry Potter set on order as a Christmas gift so I guess that takes the priority.

Locolawyer says on OGR that it won’t go thru 031. Pretty bad news for me 'cause that’s my radius. I’m hoping there’s a way, otherwise … might have to sell it.
Don’t understand how Lionel can forget about toy train curves. Fasttrack is not the standard by any means.

Mike, I hope for you and others it does too. Even though Lionel is obviously pusing FasTrack as the new “standard” I would think they’d realize there is STILL a very large number of modelers using tubular track. And while Lionel is pushing starter sets to NEW customers, starter sets still remain a viable and important option for existing traditionally sized operators to add locomotives and cars to their layouts.
I do think it’s kind of a shame that the original K-Line company wasn’t making and pusing more products like the ones in the two K-Lionel catalogs… that’s where they SHOULD have been putting their efforts. Just as sad that Lionel released the first K-Lionel catalog back in February, and that it is even questionable that many of those items will even be out before the holiday this year. They might as well have just put the two catalogs together and released it this fall for all the delays.
I do understand Lionel wants to put a priority on their products. But there are products in those two catalogs that for me, take priority over any Lionel product currently offered. I’d take another S-2 over any of the traditional Lionel diesels, even if it means I will be repainting it to have a modern road name. Though I really like that New Haven Alco set too.
I don’t know the profit margin of the Lionel made K-Line over the normal Lionel line. I would hope Lionel is making some money on the stuff. Just as important as Hogwarts being available before the CHRISTmas season, it’d be nice to see some of those new K-Lionel items out there too.
It seems to me that it behooves Lionel to eventually start making and shipping K-Line product, since they are paying for the right to do so.
I was gah gah over the K-Line Hudson and passenger cars in the K by L catalog. I even liked the NH set. But I haven’t heard a thing about them since.
