Could anyone tell me if there is someone else other than Microscale that produces railroad decals? I use a lot of Microscales products but they do not have the set I am trying to locate.
Thanks in advance,
George

Last I heard Champ decals were in the process of going out of business but they were still selling off their inventory. Oddballs Decals from Kansas also makes a lot of decal sets. Check his website. There may be other smaller companies out there, but along with MicroScale, that’s the major suppliers.
Have you tried Google? For example, “Northern Pacific Model Railroad Decals” will give you lots of links to look through.
Thanks for the help. I am still looking but in the meantime I e-mailed Walthers Customer service to see if they have any ideas since it is their car I am trying to decal.
What roadname are you looking for and what’s the type of car or loco that you’re trying to letter?

I have an extra Amtrak 1700 series baggage car. It is currently labeled “U.S. Mail Only”. I would like to remove those decals and replace them with Express Baggage which is what is on the cars they use now in Phase IV. No one seems to have these decals. I may just have to leave it and use it as is for a while.

You can make your own decals. Several manufacturers sell decal paper (several dollars per sheet) and then you would need something like Microscale’s liquid decal film and Micro-Sol to coat them and apply them. Other than that, it’s just a matter of printing what you want on a computer.
I may have to go that route if I cannot locate them. I should hear from Walthers tomorrow about this question. I have never printed my own but I am certain I can do it.
Thanks for the help,

My Champ Decal catalogue lists set PH-142, for AMTRAK cars with the red and blue arrow, with white AMTRAK, car names and numbers and red Slumbercoach lettering. Also, passenger car data sets which include lettering for coach, baggage, RPO, diner, etc. Sets are HD-15A (aluminum), HD-15B (black), HD-15D (Dulux), HD-15R (red), HD-15W (white), HD-15Z (bronze/gold). It doesn’t specify the lettering style for these sets: they may be in the older serif-style. All set numbers given are for the HO scale sets. Finally, you could also try alphabets sets. The smallest offered is 3/64", and in non-serif styles, the set numbers are as follows: New Modern Gothic, L-166 (white), L-176 (black). There are several other “modern” (non-serif) styles offered in red, white, or black, although 5/64" seems to be the smallest size offered. If you know the size and style of lettering required, I’d be glad to provide set numbers.

I will see what I can do about the letter size Doc. That is an option I had not considered. I will be back home later this afternoon and do some research. Right now I am going down to work on our clubs layout for a few hours. All of our new Switch machines came in yesterday and we want to get them all hooked up today if we can.
Thanks again,
George
