Decapod going to Age of Steam

Going to a good home where it will be well cared for.

Good news indeed, although perhaps someday we could hope for some public access here?

I’m sure public access will come in time. What’s the point of having a collection of cool stuff if you can’t show it off?

People with money buy objects of beauty for their enjoyment ALONE. Happens with paintings and other fine art objects all the time. We, the public, may only get a glimpse of one of the engines when Mr. Jacobson takes one out to play with it.

Limited public access began this past summer. Copy and paste following link for details. http://www.ageofsteamroundhouse.com/tour-announce.html

Keep in mind public access involves other issues, like liability insurance against visitor accidents and mishaps. I’m sure it ain’t cheap.

Give much credit to the museum, which having endured many years of turmoil, as is usual membership self-inflicted, plus having no operating steam, for viably resurrecting itself and rationalizing its holdings. It was always dispiriting to tour and see so much irreplacable RR rolling stock mouldering away. Better to have a few good items than a lot of junk.

What does Decapod really mean?

I may be old and grey but I would love to work there.
