Decoder "reset" question

I installed two new NCE decoders into tro new engines last weekend. One programed fine the other had some issues that I can’t figure out. It would not program in 4 digit address and when I programed it in 2 digit address the first step on the throttle was full throttle. I am pretty sure there is a way to reset this decoder to a default factory setting. I would like to do that but can’t remember or figure out how. Can anybody here help with this?I am running a Digitrax empire unit.

Thanks,

What type of NCE decoders did you use? It sounds to me like you installed something wrong or two wires are touching each other instead of the decoder needing to be reset.

The documentation I have for an NCE D102-US Decoder does not indicate how to reset one. I suggest that you pose your question to NCE. Their web address is http://www.ncedcc.com

The decoder is a plug in D121P. I have tried it both ways i the socket and it still does the same thing. I am going to try contacting the good people at Empire Northern Models to see what help they might be.

Sounds like you got a bad decoder. You don’t mention what DDC system you are using but the materials with your system should cover how to reset the decoders back to factory settings. If all else fails I know Tim will take care of it for you. Good man!

cv08 is the factory reset which will return the decoder as it came from the manufacturer with address 03. if you’re using the dt400 put the loco on the track. press the program key on the throttle until you are in the programing mode that you want. use the left throttle to select the cv( 008). use the right throttle to select the value that you want (08) then hit enter. when finished hit exit and the decoder should be reset. did you test the decoder with the lt1 unit before installing it?

Got the problem fixed. Tim at Empire northern Models replied back and instructed me to correct a couple mixed up CV values He had me reset CV30 and CV2. This solved the problems and my new U30C runs and plays with the other engines just fine now.
