I am currently running NCE Power Pro and while running two trains, one in consist which consisted of one athearn SD70mac and an Atlas Dash 8-40c. I am sure that both have an NCE decoders in them but dont remember which ones. The other engine was an Atlas GP-38. While operating there was a derailment at which time all three engines stopped running. I tried to re-program them individually but got no response. I cancelled the consist also but still could not re-program the decoders. I cant even get the lights to go on. All other engines I have on the layout work fine just these. Any Help would be appreciated.
Baron,
When you say “re-program”, do you mean:
-
You tried creating the consist again but none of the locomotives would respond? Or…
-
You reset each locomotive’s decoder to factory settings but they still didn’t respond?
If you can’t get them to respond and you didn’t reset them, try resetting the decoders. That may take care of the issue. And be sure that you do the resetting on the programming track individually.

Place all 3 locos on the layout.
Dial up 00 as the address you are controlling.
Go into Operations Mode programming.
Set CV19=0
Re-aquire your locos.

I don’t know how an NCE works, but my guess is that the derailment caused a short, and the circuit breaker shut the system down. You need to reset the breaker.
On my Lenz system, once there is a short, I have to push the red “St” button. That’s also the Emergency Stop button, but once it’s off it serves the opposite purpose. On my system, even power the system down and restarting will not clear the breaker - I’ve got to push that button.
I agree, on the face of it this sounds like no power to the tracks. At least one of the engines should have lights or make sounds, or both. Since it is dead-dead, I would meter the rails to see if any voltage shows up.

In re: the above advice, he said that:
You didn’t mention how you have the 3 consisted together, perhaps your putting in the wrong address for the lead loco?
If none of the advice given works which it more then likely will I would try setting all three locomotive one at a time of course back to the default setting to first get them to be operational, after they are back up and running re-program the individual loco’s and try the consist again.
