i just want to know what people like[:)]
The SD45 is my favorite second generation diesel. My favorite all time diesel is the FP7.
What is a deisle? Anything remotely like a DIESEL?
Probably an Alco PA-1.
Regards
Ed
My favorite DIESEL is the EMD FP45.
Got to go with the GP9
F9 in warbonnet colors
My first three fall into the other category–but steamers just plain out rank deisles
How about an H-24-66?
The bigger the better ACC4400, GEVO, Dash 8,SD40
EMD My favorite 4 axle GP30 favorite 6 axle SD50 Favorite GE [%-)]
As is usually the case with every version of this poll, there are numerous options not listed.
There were other manufacturers of Diesel locomotives besides EMD and GE. I don’t see any of the Alco units listed, nor any of the Fairbanks Morse units. I also did not see the early EMD (or EMC) units such as F units or E units. I think that diesel switchers were forgotten, too. Remember the NW & SW units? How about Dash 8’s, U-boat and the Alco C units? What about the S-1, S-3, etc. What about the GP units above the GP 38? I am sure there are tons (literally) of others that I am also forgetting. Personally, (among lots of others) I like the GP 60, E6, SW 1200, FM H15-44 and Aclo PA1 & PB1(I have models of most of these).
Amen.
As far as diesels go, the Alco PA, FM Trainmaster, and EMD F7s are the sweetest units around.
Just got two BLI EMD SD40-2’s Norfolk & Western
Love them to bits!!
Ken.
As for diesels - even though they’re NOT listed in the poll - I’d have to say the Alco S1and GE 44-ton switchers. Steamers are still the best.

I like electric power the best but to pick an EMD the GP-7’s my favorite. We need Alco’s though man there are a lot of us alcophiles on this forum oh well,I’m partial to FA’s and RS-10’s and RS-18’s. Happy mrring. TB
I absolutely love the SD-40-2 style engines and regard that as my all time favorite outright. BUT, I am awed by most any diesel (there are a few exceptions). I really like the newer engines out now ( meaning SD-50s & 60s and above). On the other hand I can’t stand the looks of the shark nose units of old and another old style unit that had a streamlined body raking down to the platform (don’t remember the designation). This is just like asking people what their favorite brand of vehicle is (Chevy, Dodge, Ford, etc.). You’ll always get a wide variety of answers and an equal number of reasons why.
I don’t model diesels, but if I did, I’d have an ALCO PA and a Baldwin Centipede. Alco, because it’s an ‘honorary steamer’ and the Baldwin because it was so darn BUSY looking with all of those wheels!
