Demand remains strong to get other people’s money? Who would have thought.

As New York Central’s Al Perlman would say, who does not love Santa Claus?

Pretty good indication of what locals see a need to rebuild and improve upon are falling, crumbling infrastructure and where are national priorities are. The ironic part is that private railroads have built the world’s best freight railroad system and continue improve upon with record cap ex spending yet the shippers run to government for regulation.

You can’t have it both ways - world class infrastructure, like good roads & bridges, rails, ports, and no spending. Do you need to increase taxes, not necessarily but the our politicians need the political will to prioritize infrastructure spending over numerous other federal agencies. .

Odd…rail and trail request are neck and neck. Lots of rail opportunity out there: reopen the central section of the Columbus & Greenville, reopen the central section of the Adirondack Scenic and extend the Nashville and Eastern to a connection with Norfolk Southern at Oliver Springs. Do something big!

I agree Mr. Norton, the rail opportunities are indeed out there.

Couldn’t Amtrak use one of these grants to exercise at least part of it’s option on Viewliner IIs?
