Evening All !
Just sitting here listening to the Cards getting beat. (2-0 right now) [(-D][yeah]
CW- Howza bout a large Mt. Dew? I’m gonna have to stay up and watch this game.
Chris, next time you’re down here in the flatlands, rattle my cage and I’ll take you to NW IL hotspots to take pics. I’ll drive and you shoot the pics. ( I suck) Are you like Jeremiah Johnson and only come down out of the high country once a year? Carl can take care of the Chicago area and I’ll take everything from the burbs west.
CW and Mutt- I see in the news that you’ve got a new lady painted on one of your buildings. Didn’t know Diane was from Louisville…
Update: It’s now 3-0 [(-D] Go Stro’s !!!
I see our wandering CSX fan is back home in Philly. Ah, the days of youth when you could just pickup and go wherever you want. The resposibilitys of adulthood suck.
Well, going to wander around the threads and see if there is any flaming hot topics or
or political “I’m right and you’re wrong” battles going on. Be back later Willy
Hey, Chicago area members, my wife and I are headed there for the weekend, and we plan on riding Metra downtown from Lisle on Saturday- any advice for positioning myself to get any good pictures? You know, which side of the train to sit on, etc…
Willy, actually Diane is orignially from the Glasgow,Ky. area;but family moved
here at an early age for her.she graduated from High school here, and later had
her first TV job as a “Weather Lady” for one of the local stations…
And on to bigger and better things. I guess you do know who she’s married to?
Obviously none of you has ever been to Boston…
Although I would have to wonder how Denver drivers would handle a traffic circle…
Well Joe, our revenge against the Redbirds is complete. Yeah!!!
Willy
Sorry I missed your post, Jay–we were out the door by then, en route to a half-day of shopping and having lunch with daughter and granddaughter. (By the way, it was Elmhurst, not Wheaton.)
Brian, I think it won’t matter much which side of the train you sit on. Going into Chicago the station buildings are on the south side of the tracks, as is most of the yard in Cicero. However, since you’ll most likely be on the south track, opposing traffic will be outside the north windows. Don’t know how you’ll get good pictures while you’re moving, anyway.
Be sure and buy a Metra weekend pass–it will be a better deal for you even with only one round trip, but it would give you unlimited rides all weekend on any line offering weekend service (South Shore not included). Five bucks per person–can’t beat it! The conductor will sell it to you.
A senior moment, Carl
Jay
Even better would be to watch them trying to handle the miles of mid-summer traffic trying to get over the Bourne or Sagamore bridges, and around the rotaries to get on to Cape Cod… which, for it’s size has more traffic circles than enywhere else in the state… seven, if I’m not mistaken… and some of the rudest drivers I’ve ever had the misfortune of sharing the road with, or being hit by…LOL.
Good Thursday morning, everyone!! Well, let’s see here: the Mutt is still
sleeping, and I’m working on cup # 1 of coffee. Guess we’ll be leaving here
about 12 something, to get him to his dentist’s appointment. So, after the
usual breakfast menu of turkey bacon, sausage, biscuits & gravy, scrambled
eggs, juice, coffee, and milk, lunch today will be: the following sandwiches,
already fixed and in the cooler for everyone: tuna, ham, roast beef, turkey,
and bologna. And there are plenty of the individual size bags of chips to go
with your sandwiches. Later, everyone!!

Oh, Jay, you are such a cut-up!
Is that why so many guys from north of the border are called “Nick”?
Apple pie for the Diner tomorrow. We customarily have something for birthdays here at work, and I’m gonna do my own pie, your choice of extra sharp New York state cheddar cheese or ice cream (or both) on the side. There will be plenty for everyone.
I’d have some 4X sharp cheddar, but I won’t have the time to get to the dairy store to pick it up…
good morning
going to help with lunch.matts got the bags of chips ready.hes putting them on the counter.will also make some meat loaf and mashed potatoes for supper, that way mutt will be able to eat.

Good Morning Everyone,
Well, no lightning here at 5:00 this morning. Kind of actually enjoyed that. Sort of a neat way to wake up in the morning.
Carl, and RIRR80, got my tickets on Amtrak for the next trip. Will be arriving in Naperville around 1:30 on November 17th, and departing at 2:30 on November 28th. Would love to catch up with you guys. RIRR80, I’ll be staying at the cabins at White Pines State Park on the weekend of the 18th-20th. Would love to meet up with you around then if your available. Carl, let me know what works for you the rest of the time I’m home.
Mutt, have fun at the dentist. I really dislike dental visits. Oddly enough, I usually avoid the Novocaine and deal with a few seconds of sharp pain rather than a few seconds of a little less sharp pain and hours of numbness. There’s really no good options there. Maybe thats why I dislike it.
As for Boston…I decided long ago that if I ever travel to one of those old eastern cities like Boston, Philly (sorry Sarah) or the like, I’ll be sure and let someone else do the driving. I’ve heard some really nasty horror stories about driving in places like that. No sir, that’s when I’ll become a passenger and let someone else take care of traffic!
Well, must be on my way. Hope you all have a great day!
Hi all,
I got a good laugh out of the Denver driving guide, Thanks MC. I used to spend far too much time complaining about bad drivers. Now that I spend a lot of time in Mexico I rarely complain about American drivers. They are the worst down there.
Hope the dentist cures what ailes ya Walter.
Have a great day everyone.[8D]
Chris, the Tuesday before Thanksgiving may work well here. Don’t know beyond that at the moment (we’d be gone Wednesday and Thursday–provided I don’t have to work the holiday).
WOW!!! That police procedures exam was a lot easier than I thought. I am feeling much happier now.
hows the meatloaf and mashed potatoes for everyone?we also got some soup and chili if you want to warm up.matt set the tables in the diner himself(thats why the thomas cups).we have pie for dessert so eat up everyone.
stay safe
joe
Mutt I hope everything goes well, no I should say, I hope everything went well at the dentist’s office today. I’m sure it did though.
Well, lets see I didn’t do much today I just watched tv and got on the computer all day. I figured since I tired myself out with driving and doing some “welcome home” chores aroud the house, I might as well take the day to not drive and spend some quality time with the remote and keyboard. I think tomorrow I will have to resume doing chores though.
RIRR80, I figure that I’d chapture the moments that I have now, because once I do get my long awaited job with a railroad I really won’t have time to do anything. Sometimes being young isn’t all that great because you still have to listen to the Assocation of Annoying Parents (AAP) as I call it, or them. lol
Joe, Mutt doesn’t mind the Thomas cups; said right now, he’d take a sippy
cup! [:D] He no longer has any teeth on the bottom. Too bad “Trains” doesn’t
have a toothless smilie (or one with clinched mouth)!! He just finished eat-
ing a bowl of chicken noodle soup, and I’m getting ready to make him some
chocolate pudding.
And Joe, I really enjoyed your meat loaf and mashed potatoes.
