WOO HOO!!! [:D][:D][:D]. Houston won! 5 to 1[:D][8D][:p]!!!
Evening all!
Chris, the weekend of 19-20 would be great. The band has the weekend off ( a rarity ). On Sat the 19th there is a huge railroad memorabilia auction in Cambridge. Don’t know if you’re into that type of thing, but if you are go to www.stenzelAuction.com for the complete listing. There’s over 450 lots of items from every road line available. It’s become an annual event around here. They collect all the bits and pieces of railroad stuff all year and then have one huge auction. Draws all the hardcore FRN’s from all over the country. Nothing like 100 guys who “know everything” about railroading in one room trying to oneupsman each other. Actually if you just shut up and listen, you can learn quite a lot.
Sunday the 20th is wide open for a full day of chasing and shooting if it works into your schedule.
Spent our honeymoon in the cabins at White Pines. That whole area up there is beautiful. The beds were a little hard but we didn’t seem to notice. [:D] The raccoons overwhelm the fire pits at dusk, looking for handouts from the people making smores and cooking hotdogs. They actually are very tame and this is obviously part of their daily forage routine, but it sure freaked the “city folks”, they thought they were being attacked! You know, I might be convinced to take Monday the 21st off when traffic on rails would be a little heavier. It wouldn’t take much arm twisting. [(-D]
Sarah, capture the moments while you can. At 52, I wish I had captured more instead of chasing the almighty dollar. Don’t worry about the annoying parents, some day you’ll wi***hey were around to annoy you.
Mutt, I am going in to vet to get my tops taken out in a couple months. Let’s get together, I can chew from the bottom and you can chew from the top. We could enter a corn on the cob eating contest as a two man team. Take care of him CW.
Anyway, can’t stay for supper, Mama made broccoli and cheese soup and it’s ready. Later Willy
Willy and Carl, I have some running around to do, but I’ll drop you guys a line tomorrow, and we can go from there.
CW…so has Mutt put his Two Bottom Teeth on his Christmas list yet? [(-D][(-D][(-D] Sorry Mutt, couldn’t resist. Hope you get better soon!
JoeKoh, Meatloaf, taters and pie were wonderful. And my compliments to Matt for such fine dinnerware to serve us all with!
Well, I must be on my way. You guys have a good one, and I’ll catch you on the flip side. Remember to keep the rubber side down (provided you’re on road and not track!).
We have traffic circles in increasing numbers, especially in the 'burbs. Most are poorly designed jokes. Moron Jefferson County engineers tried to recently incorporate a railroad crossing into one until they got the riot act read to them (44th & McIntyre near the Colorado RR Museum in Golden)
Suppose to calm traffic (questionable), do create congestion and fender benders[}:)][}:)][}:)]
…Driving around them and driving on the left side of the road…{in UK}, which I did years ago and then to make it a bit more complicated the {test car}, had the steering wheel on the left side as we do here in the states…That took some getting use to…fast…!!
There is a traffic circle in Georgetown, De. I have fond memories of driving in circles, circles, and cirlces around it! Man, I got dizzy!

Brian, I think it won’t matter much which side of the train you sit on. Going into Chicago the station buildings are on the south side of the tracks, as is most of the yard in Cicero. However, since you’ll most likely be on the south track, opposing traffic will be outside the north windows. Don’t know how you’ll get good pictures while you’re moving, anyway.
Be sure and buy a Metra weekend pass–it will be a better deal for you even with only one round trip, but it would give you unlimited rides all weekend on any line offering weekend service (South Shore not included). Five bucks per person–can’t beat it! The conductor will sell it to you.
I’m sure going to give it a try with my Rebel- won’t cost any film! Thanks for the tip on the Metra tickets. Will definitely do that. Too bad they don’t work for CTA as well.
Willy, that broccoli And cheese soup sounds great, think I could
get a bowl of it ?..believe I could handle that right now.[sigh]
Chris,I think it’s probably going to be more than just TWO
on Christmas list this year.[:D]
[although, one of those ‘wind-up’ sets of both the upper and lower
dentures wouldn’t be too bad either [(-D] ]
Walt, I couldn’t help but notice that this thread is directly above one entitled “need new smilie options”.
I’m visiting my friendly (and cute) hygienist tomorrow.
Carl, Chris, Willy.
I have will have to watch the calendar and negotiate the deal with the “boss”, but I might be able to join the fun. Anybody for Rochelle if the weather isn’t terrible?
Jay
Oops, seems like I made rank with this post. I think I may retire and take the pension.
Jay,
Congratulations on attaining a “New” rank, but is it actually
higher than: Chief Scoundrel ?? [bow][bow]
Carl, did notice that;and CW was trying to “lobby” for a couple
of different ones for “tooth impaired” persons on here.[(-D][(-D]
Jay:[bow][bow][bow][bow][bow]
Just how do you outrank “Chief Scoundrel”? Or does UniHead call your scoundrel and raise you an ilk?[(-D]
Back to the salt mines…er, um the budget estimates[:(]

Jay, congratulations on your fifth star!! Maybe we can all meet somewhere, and
I’ll bring you a “fifth” of whatever to celebrate!![;)]
Mookie, good to see you back today! We missed you yesterday.
Mutt says all he wants for breakfast is a bowl of soup. Figures that’s about all
he can handle right now. Maybe something more solid later on. For the rest
of us, breakfast will be: sausage, biscuits & gravy, scrambled eggs.
Lunch today will be: fish sandwiches, grilled cheese sandwiches, fries and/or
chips, and homemade chocolate pie for dessert. And we still have some
pumpkin pie left, if anyone would like some. Over the weekend, I’ll also make
some pumpkin cakes (like them better than pumpkin pie, myself).
morning
breakfast and lunch sound good.jay welcome to the 5 star club.tommorow we get to look at the proofs for matts school pics.then we are taking him to camp creepy.
should be fun.
stay safe
Joe
Jay,
Congrats on the 5th Star. Perhaps we can make you General of the Scoundrels now? Have to see if Bergie could modify your Rank to arrange the stars in a pentagon. A gathering in Rochelle always works by me.
Meanwhile, until the Pest Control man arrives, I brought a friend to the forum:

(Aren’t Billy Goats the natural enemies of Trolls according to the legend?)
On a related note, I’ve got the pictures up from my past trip home. Sadly, there are no train shots (mostly because I’m an idiot and forgot how to railfan in the midwest). Still thought you guys might be interested. Everything from chickens to windmills over there. The link is:

One of these days I will manage to post some train shots again!
Hope you guys all have a great Friday. I know I will!
TTFN!
CopCar…Silver Springs and Silver Springs Colors are pic’s like I like to create and have on rare occasion.
Back, but only briefly.
The nerve of my regular hygienist to go on maternity leave!
I guess that gnawing on a fish sandwich would be good for me.
Chris–talk to you later! Glad the goat did the trick.
Jen–welcome back. I missed you yesterday, too.
Walt, I was referring to your smiley options, not the Forum’s!
Gotta go. Maybe I’ll get back tonight.
Carl,I kind of figured that, but thought maybe I could “copy and paste”. [:D][:-,]
Jay congrats on the new star. Your up in rank now, how does it feel?
CW I think I’ll be taking some of those grilled cheese sandwiches, I wonder can I have a Sprite with the gilled cheese? please.
