Derailment in NY

I just saw on the news the some cars derailed on an overpass in New York. I was too busy looking at the train to pay attention to the town name, but it was fairly long and began with O.

The cars appeared to be Golden West Service and UP RBLs. I wonder if this was an Express Lane train.

Actually, it begins with a “C” as in Cheektowaga near Buffalo.

"Train Derails in Cheektowaga…No One Injured

Four box cars derailed around 8:00 this morning spilling the contents across Union Road in Cheektowaga. 2 On Your Side has learned the box cars were refrigerator cars carrying vegetables. Two of the four cars are blocking Union Road.

Union Road between Walden and Broadway is closed until atleast 2am Monday while crews clean-up debris. Heavy machinery is arriving to assist in a quick clean-up process. You should avoid the area completely.

The 64-car train was headed eastbound from Buffalo to Rotterdam. Officials say Amtrak passenger routes should not be affected however freight routes may be delayed.

CSX officials say 2 crew members were on board when the train derailed but neither person was hurt nor were any passerby’s. The train has a “black box” that holds information leading up to the accident. Officials will pull information from the black box to determine the cause of the accident. It could day up to a week to analyze the data.

Officials say it’s best to avoid the location completely by choosing an alternate route."

Then, early this morning, the derailment bug bit NS! They closed a section of Bailey Ave. in Mudville, USA (a-k-a Buffalo NYSSR) while they cleaned up a less messy, but aggravating and embarrassing derailment of a CP train bound for Bison yard working east over Bailey. Traffic was somewhat muddled this morning. The local media managed to get the story wrong in some respects, and right in others. Newstalk 930, WBEN was contradicting itself with the reporter on the scene giving one set of 411 and the studio hosts[{(-_-)}] another set of information![#oops][D)]

That is interesting. I wonder why those RBLs, and perhaps mechanical reefers, were on a train that originated in Buffalo.
