I have just joined this forum, although I have been recreating the Canadian National Parks in “N” gauge for several years now.I need several “N” gauge RV’s/winnebagoes/Motorhome vehicles, the sort you see in campsites in the canadian national parks. They resemble coaches but are kitted out like a caravan .I would also like to buy several RV’s which consist of a pickup truck towing a trailer motorhome. I have scoured every site and exhibition I could find ,but have had no luck what so ever.I would really appreciate some help finding these vehicles. Also ,could some one advise me as to a good supplier of canadian “N” gauge trees, which would not look out of place in the canadian national parks.
I’m in HO and have never seen a class C or class A motor home as a model. There are a few with a car or truck pulling a trailer but none that are motorhomes. Maybe you can scratch build one from styrene and parts from N scale cars. I believe that pieser sells a Boy Scout troop on a camp out that might add to your camping scene but I’ve never seen the type of RV that you are looking for. I own a winnebago class C motorhome but it’s just too big to put on the layout…[:D]…chuck
check out www.makemymodel.com. They say something about custom building stuff… I’m not sure. If they don’t, I’m sure it won’t be long until they come out with RVs!
I’m an N scaler also, and don’t ever recall seeinging any RVs or campers anywhere I’m sorry to say. You might try buying resin bus kits and kitbashing your own. I’ve got a couple of camper trailers that I bought about twenty years ago that were made by a German company that I couldn’t think of at this moment if my life depended on it… Anyways. Good luck to you.
In HO, we have it a bit easier. I don’t know of any Winnebagos, but Busch makes a nice model of the GM “fishbowl” bus. Quite a few of those, and similar buses, were converted into motor homes when their days of hauling passengers was over. Take the model apart, remove some, or all of the seats, add some interior walls to simulate cabinets, a bedroom or two, cover some of the windows, etc.
As for N scale, I don’t recall any buses like that one.
Actually, what era is the OP looking for anyway - nuComp seems to have the '50s market sewn up, at least in N-Scale, as you can see Here, although Woodland Scenics seems to have a 50’s trailer also…Actually, in HO Scale there’s somewhat of a glut of those '50s style, tear drop shaped trailers - NuComp, Woodland Scenics, Malibu (teamed with a Jaguar, no less), Eko and so on.
I think Wiking may have made more modern/realistic trailers in N-scale, good luck searching.
Wish I could help, but all I have are full size RV’s, Winnebagos, Fleetwood travel trailers. I am an RV salesperson for a local dealership.
We don’t have any scale models of what we sell.
I am in HO scale, so I guess all I could do is scratch build one.
Your first question about the RVs seems to be answered. There are no N trees. If you look at trees in the forest they are a lot taller than most models. Use what ever looks good to you. They should dwarf the trains and vehicles.
I’m not bright enough to make a link, you may have to cut and paste. Anyway, it’s for a Woodland Scenics set called Thompson’s Trailer, and features a car pulling a small camper. Hope this is some help.
