DESPERATELY SEEKING SCANNING

Lawsy, the Family Odyssey I am to attend down south obliges me to leave a day earlier than I had originally planned–tomorrow (Wed.) during the a.m., in fact.

I plan to visit the NS Exhibit car in beautiful Rural Retreat, VA, which is just up the old N&W Bristol/Lynchburg line from where I grew up (Glade Spring.)

Who knows road frequencies?

After that, I must head to North Carolina. Does anyone know the road frequencies for the old Southern main line from Greensboro and High Point to Kannapolis and Charlotte? Believe there will be Amtraks as well as freight movements. If that line is like it was when I lived in Charlottesville VA. it’s pretty busy. May also have opportunity to hang out near Winston-Salem.

I want to stress that I am not quite [8)] as lazy as it seems. My new scanner and I are having a strange and wonderful relationship–frequently more strange than wonderful. I have trouble slewing (or is it skewing?) thru the RR bands and often have to input them – I guess maybe it would entail more searching than scanning.

Regardless, it sho’ will be fun to capture an eastern road! I can hardly wait to add to my growing list of bizarre boxcar photos! [:D]

Thank you all for hearing me out.

Oh, and if there are any overly insecure “security zones” along these routes, I’ll be happy to make note of 'em and avoid.

Allen,
Do you have 100 channel capacity in your scanner? If so you might want to program all 90 AAR frequencys into your scanner. Then you don’t have to worry about what freqs are used when you go to places where you don’t know them.

start with 160.215 and add .015 to each succesive channel
160.230
160.245
160.260
160.275
and go all the way to 161.565

I think you may want to book mark this page.
