Diesel Fuel Facility

I am working on my fuel facility for deisel engines. No problems with inspection racks, fuel stands, etc. But, my problem lies in the area off the track. Obviously, the fuel comes from somewhere. Looking for ideas on how the fuel storage area should be set up, tanks, acess for tank cars, etc. Trying to stay basically typical of Pennsy designs. Any help or photo links would be appriciated.

I cannot swear as to the PRR but at Milwaukee’s Butler Yard there are some very large tanks (surrounded by berms) that are quite some distance away from the fuel racks and presumably there is underground piping. It strikes me that this could be modeled on a backdrop and save the space for other things.

I have seen fueling from a truck also. Back the truck up to the tracks and stick in the hose. They even washed their windows and checked the oil. FRED

Although I have no idea as to Pennsy practices, have you thought of getting in touch with a historical society for the PRR? I’m sure they can help you out.
