Diesel Supply Co. SD18 189

Does anybody know the heritage of this unit? I’ve been looking around the web for it’s history, and I can’t find it. I think that it may be a DMIR unit, since the railroad’s second group of SD18s were numbered from 181-193. This puzzles me since no EMD builders plate is visible. Thanks for any info.

<May 1,2007> Now that I have this info, I’ll add that this unit is now on the northen part of Arkansas. It works in a yard, and you may not be able to get close to it since it sits across a group of tracks.

Might I mention that it doesn’t have a chop nose, and looking for pics of it on the internet are useless if you’re looking for it in DMIR paint.

Welcome to the forum. Your guess is correct

Well, your correct.

I live very close to the DM&IR so I see the trains almost everyday.

Infact, the LSRM (lake superior railroad museum) owns one of the SDMs.

The DM&IR SDM/ SD18 #193. This locomotive still runs today in Duluth, minnesota
